“But where are we going?”
“C’mon now, it’s only a little bit further.”
I tread across the slates, staggering as I struggle to keep my footing.
“You know I hate heights!”
Medina glances back at me, a crooked smile playing across her lips. “Trust me. It’ll be worth it once you see.”
The evening is a pleasant one; early March and the autumn chill is new to the air, a gentle breeze brushes against the nape of my neck and I feel the prickling of gooseflesh, but the chill is quite and calm, not the bitter sort of winter. Medina turns, stretching out her arm behind her and offering me her hand apologetically, “I swear it’s only just a little bit longer... don’t look at me like that, I’m not fibbing!”
