Time to talk about how the opening arc of Superman/Batman, “Public Enemies”.
* Like the animated version, John Stewart isn’t a part of Luthor’s task force of heroes (and Major Force). That said, like the comic, he is involved. In fact, he and the rest of the JLA help Superman and Batman.
* A number of non-DC characters are involved, including Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Ben Tennyson and his family, and RoboCop trying to help out.
* Amanda Waller is more in-line with her depiction in the animated film, turning against Lex Luthor and aiding the heroes when she realizes how insane he is.
* As the Wayne murders is a closed case and there’s none of the bull about keeping it a mystery, the idea that a pre-Metallo John Corben was the killer doesn’t come up.
* J. Jonah Jameson and Will Harangue hop on the chance to demonize Superman.
* The Ultramarine Corps, a pre-disgraced Captain Nemesis, and Deadpool try to take on Superman. Of course, being a universe that includes characters outside of DC, a number of other villains including Crossbones, the Rhino, Shocker, Venom (Mac Gargan), Toad, the Abomination, Bullseye, Dr. Animo, Rojo, the Circus Freak Trio, and Pudface Morgan also try their hand at claiming the bounty Luthor puts on Superman. Lex Luthor also sics Weapon X on Superman.
* Lex Luthor’s presidency doesn’t end with him hiding and on the run as in the comic, but instead, like in the animated film, it ends with him arrested and thrown in jail. He’s then tried, impeached, and removed from office.
* Captain Atom doesn’t end up in another universe at the end.
* Much like in the comic, it leads into Kara’s return as her ship/regeneration pod was embedded in the meteor, but unlike the comic, the JLA find the ship immediately and bring it back to Earth.
