I finished this about a month ago but didn't get a round to putting it up. Honestly, I couldn't find an appropriate category to put this in. It's mythology which is like fantasy, but its not quite "sword and sorcery." I could put it under portraits, but of a fictional character? Whatever.

This is Pandora. Why a vase-like container instead of a box? Because there was never a box. In a mistranslation of Hesiod's Works and Days, the word "pithos" (meaning a large type of jar) was replaced with "pyxis" (a small box-like container).

I tried to infuse some symbology of her as an archetype of the first woman and bringer of evil (her story is very simlar to Eve's in Genesis).

Belo. I like the analogy of Eve and Pandora,  also very similar to Prometheus (Fire) and Lucifer (Light)

Although it may be taken as a prerogative, curiosity is not exclusive to women. I like the analogy of  Eve and Pandora, similar to my own thoughts about Prometheus and Lucifer, both punished for a gift to humankind by somewhat tyrannical gods. Although Yahweh/Jehovah alone claims exclusivity among divinity.

It's nice to know that there's still a lot of us that know it was a jar and not a box :)
Wonderful art work

My favourite myth!
I like how you used a jar instead of the more famous box.
Also, relating her to eve... very interesting. That's one aspect of the myth I never considered.
