Description
The Pagani Zonda GR is a rare race car that was developed in 2002 by a company called Carsport Zonda founded by Tom Weickardt (owner of American Viperacing), Toine Hezemans (owner of Carsport Holland), and Paul Kumpen (owner of GLPK). The Zonda GR was built on the same chassis as the Zonda S and many of Zonda's features were kept on, except for the drivetrain.
This Zonda I drew is NOT the original Zonda GR that was originally built in 2003, this one was driven by a Czech racing car driver named Antonin Herbeck and it raced in the FIA CEZ and the DMV GTC.
Before Herbeck first drove it, it was driven by Mike Hezemans, Anthony Kumpen, and David Hart.
This car can sprint fron 0-100 Km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.3 seconds and its Mercedes Benz AMG M120 6.0 litre V12 (some sources say 7.0 litres) produces around 440 KW (590 HP and 600 PS) and the torque is around 786 Nm (580 lb-ft). And it weighs about 1,100 kilograms.
In 2003 before the alterations, new body, and colour change, the Zonda GR raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but it retired due to a gearbox failure. The main reason was that its layout was unusual. The gearbox was an obtained unit from a Porsche 911, and it was fitted upside down and reversed. Source: drivetribe.com/p/top-5-le-mans…
This is what the car looked like at Le Mans: pbs.twimg.com/media/Ecnv4VXWAA…
Sometime 2012, this car suffered a horrendous crash at Most Circuit, Czech Republic when Tomas Kostka (driver of an Audi A4 DTM) deliberately spun out the Zonda GR of Antonin Herbeck. Link to the shocking footage: www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZdnhU…
Only one was ever built, otherwise two were built, but one is very well-known.
Despite the difficulties this car had gone through, its engine sounds are SO amazing to listen to:
