I like the slightly off-focus, dreamy quality to this, as well as the purple color. Does that come from the plant or is a camera trick? At first glance, I assumed this to be a photo of a lavender-colored flower, until I realized it was actually ice crystals on top of what I assume to be seed pods. I especially like the way the light almost forms into rays right below the plant around the middle on the bottom.
This is one of those photos that is well worth clicking on for a full view, because there is so much detail and intricacy to the plant structure. I wish that I could view it even bigger to really see the structure of the ice crystals as well.
There seems to be an extra blurry area near the top of the plant; almost like when a finger grazes the edge of the lens, though this is definitely not flesh-colored. It may just be that that part was too close to be focused on, but it feels a little out of place because all around it is more in focus. Otherwise, I feel that your technique is great and so is your eye for composition.
