So yeah. I just migrated my MSN (aka hotmail / Live ) Account to my skype account since they're gonna be one next year anyways....
BUT . Oh my. seriously , dear microsoft are you fucking kidding me?
How can you try to merge two fundamentally different layouts and messenger types into one? How dare you.
Skype is for those that don't need fancy emoticons and all that high custimization shit...
MSN / Windows live has always been that messenger for the people who wanted colored nicknames , colored chats, funny icons and emoticons and whatnot else. the customisation is probably endless...(or atleast it was , at some point *coughlivemessenger2010ruineditallcough* ) .
Now you try to merge it . what do you get?
A sterile ui and everything from skype , be it good or bad. I am a user of both honestly (both runs almost 24/7 or at least all the time when my computer is turned on and i'm not terribly busy with other stuff that I don't want to be disturbed at !) and I didn't think it would be the way it is .
But it's just really unbearable for me now. Two in One .Skype's UI and system ....
No more emoticons from msn , no more display pictures to fit the mood ,etc etc.
Really , I could live with the UI and stuff , but I'm so used to having funny (or pretty stupid
) emoticons pop up in my chat at least every 4and a half words ... Now that isn't possible with the new Skype+Live migration.
On the other hand I've always preferred skype for calling people while playing something (because MSNs quality simply sucks but I don't really like the likes of Teamspeak and Ventrilo because of their open accessibility to everyone either).
I love both of them but I love them as separate programms wich each tend to my needs independently . I have a bunch of people I call all the time but then again i've got another bunch that I'm used to sending funny or silly emoticons back and forth with. Oh and not to forget the Nudge feature.
It's the only thing for me to watch some youtube videos or the like , with my friends from the internet because we can time when to hit play with the nudge function. That's also gone.
The point is , why is Microsoft doing this now?
I actually hope microsoft changes their mind about the merge and / or it actually fails so hard that they can only revive msn next year.
I'd hope for the first thing but .... how likely is that?
