Angkor Wat by Angelus-Tenebrae Angkor Wat by Angelus-Tenebrae
This temple is actually a level in Illusion of Gaia. If anyone remembers that game or any of the characters in it.

I kind of liked it, but it had some annoying enemies.

Made with Krita.

Angkor Wat was definitely one of the hardest levels in IoG - that unexpected difficulty ramp-up was a killer on the first play-through! xD

Oddly though, it was also one of my favourite levels for some reason I can't quite explain. Unlike Mu, which was also a difficulty spike but just got on my nerves. Tbh, most of the game mechanics were learnt in the first half of the game, and from then on the level designs just became increasingly complex to try to make the game "harder" but just made it harder to find the right path; so the only other tactic was to make suddenly-harder enemies. xD

The Dark Knight Freedan was awesome though. I kinda wish that we'd gotten the chance to see Kara's Light Knight form. xD

I think some of those enemies in Angkor Wat were particularly annoying because of the way they move around, but unlike Mu, I felt the dungeon layout wasn't nearly as confusing, and there wasn't nearly as much backtracking either. The problem with Mu was that there were certain areas in a screen you couldn't reach originally, so you couldn't collect the power up from that area until you drained all the water. And reaching all of the enemies made it difficult as well because they were in different levels, and you sometimes had to walk all the way around to reach them. Kind of comparable to certain water temple type levels in Zelda if you know about those. Angkor Wat had large areas, and besides some bushes getting in your way, wasn't too complicated.
