Auntie? Uncle? Gone?

She wasn't prepared for the news, to see their bodies, to see the pain on other packmates faces. She wasn't prepared for any of it. When she heard Vesper she followed everyone to the yelling. The accusation being thrown. She was stunned. Frozen.

Faith mimicked her own mother's movements of near collapse.

How could they be gone...? Auntie Nay was supposed to teach me how to hunt..

Uncle Steve was gonna tell me stories...

Faith couldn't go to the bodies. She couldn't. She went to her mother instead who was so broken. Everyone seemed so broken.. Poor Vesper, Paloma, Aya, Espe.. Wanyue.

Their children left without parents now...

Faith couldn't imagine her own parents death.. She wanted to believe they'd live forever even if they've all gotten the talk about death and how everyone dies. Her parents wouldn't die.

At the moment all Faith knew was that her heart hurt and she wanted to cry and scream.

She wanted them to wake up...

But they wouldn't.

They were gone.

And Faith couldn't let her emotions show fully, she wanted to do that alone more than anything. So she braved it the best she could, leaning into her mother who cried. A few tears escaped her and she let them but she didn't let her grief (was that what this was?) run free. Not yet.
