Okay so this render is rare, in that i'm using someone else's work as the basis for it. This is the short version of how this came about.
So i have been a quiet fan of Mr. Bunny for a while now and this is my personal view of his work.
Rendering out an entire Super Heroine Peril story is quite a bit of work so, anyone dedicated enough to sit down and take on such a project deserves some acknowledgement. When they put it out there for public consumption without compensation beyond the joy of sharing their work, is pretty extraordinary and shows what a labor or love they are for him.
All artist have their own style, and for the most part, I enjoy the colorful, heroic proportioned, and straight forward peril style that he renders his stories with.
I've been developing the 'Sin City' look which can be observed with the last cover I did for Don Ship, so i decided that I wanted to try the process out with another artist's work. No ulterior motives, I just wanted to exercise the technique i was working on.
Such a style works best with a character that has some element of 'red' in their costume, Patriot Heroines are a natural draw for this. So on an impulsive whim, I dropped Mr. Bunny a note regarding the borrowing of some of his renders to 'tweak'. While he was curious i gave no details on what i wanted to do with his work, preferring to present them as a 'surprise'. With only a little hesitation, he accepted my offer to tinker with his renders of which this is the result.
I also took the opportunity to tweak the power belt that Patriotica uses. I was never really a fan of the 'bump texture used for the belt, which felt a little out of place. While it doesn't need to be removed, i thought dialing down the strength of the texture would present a better look for the character so i took the opportunity to indulge my theory.
I did a little more post work on it (cropping the render to be tighter and adding my name) and that was it.
My thanks to
for allowing me to indulge my whim.
