Description
In the Dead of the Night
for Natasha, Joshua, Melissa, Matthew, and Alicia
In the dead of the night
When I'm all alone
Sometimes I get scared.
Afraid of the things
That they say haunt and creep.
They tell me of voices
So loud and so deep.
The willow white wisps
Could make you lose your breath.
If you can't be calm
They could scare you to death!
They tell me of knocks
And the clatter of shutters.
Of noises so loud
Your heart jumps, all aflutter.
They tell me of shades that
Roll up to the ceiling.
And demons that grab you
And send your mind reeling.
But I say to myself
"I won't even be scared.
I don't care what they say
'Cause I know they're not there."
Happy Halloween,
With love,
Mom
Written in 1992, for my children and their friends.
