Glass Tile Art Pendants

Just when you thought you were safe in your homes, the glass tile art pendants return! Each one is backed with velvet which has been individually etched with the artist's initials.

Some of these have been sold already, but the rest are up at my Etsy shop (finally!). Check them out here: [link]

There's even a lovely beaded lapis version of Silverstrand available ([link]), but only one! Get it before it's gone.:D

I may make these again, but there is no guarantee as I only make jewelry on random whims. I am available for pendant requests of any pre-existing art of mine with custom beads tailored to your tastes. Just send me a note through here or Etsy!

Oh man.. dream regent looks incredible this way!! Almost some sort of ancient talasmin or something.. just lovely hon!

I get that same sense:) I was a little unsure how that particular image would look in a pendant as it's a little morbid. But it works! Perhaps someone will want to wear it XD
HiddenRelevance's avatar
Yeah, it definitely works!

Oooo...how do you make those little pretties?

Fairly easily actually! The artwork is affixed to the back of a glass tile using a Diamond Glaze which dries like glass and acts as a sealant. I then take the added steps of affixing velvet scrapbook paper and use a woodburner to etch the initials in. If you go to Etsy and search the keywords 'glass tile party' in the 'supplies' category, you'll find a few great starter kits where I learned how to do it:D I suggest trying one of those out first!

Thank you so much for that bit of information, Ang. I was reading through the comments because I've been getting requests for this sort of thing from customers at cons. So I've been looking for info on them between the goings on here at home.

By the way, I really like this new batch of sparklies.

I might have to do a journal or tutorial about it at some point. It's really quite easy once you get the hang of it. The most expensive part is the materials, which my source for bails and cut glass pendants is [link] I've been using the same small bottle of Diamond Glaze that I got with my starter kit on Etsy for all the necklaces I've done. A little seems to go a long way! If that runs out, I'm fairly sure I can grab a bottle from Etsy or with a product search on froogle.com.

Additionally, the velvet backing is velvet scrapbooking paper from Joann's and the gel pens are Sakura metallic ones which I use to add accents before affixing the paper.

Hope that helps some! Have fun with it and I hope you do well with them at cons! They make great little eye-catching items:D

Thanks so much, Ang. The links are bookmarked, and the "starter" supplies are ordered. Thanks also for the extra tips.

Excellent! I hope you have fun with it:D I'm rather in awe that there aren't any tutorials up on DA OR Youtube on how to do this, though it seems like most artisans like to charge for these tutorials. I will have to look it up and make sure there isn't some unwritten rule not to post a tutorial on how to make them as it would be a shame to take business away from the providers of the supplies.

If anything I may just post a journal with links to where I get my materials.

That sounds like a plan.

Personally I'd really like to see a tutorial for these. It's such a neat project! I'm looking forward to trying it out myself. :D

Also, how did you do the beading on Silverstrand? o 3 o
AngelaSasser's avatar
The beading was done by threading wire onto the ends of satin cord so that the beads hang down into the middle. It's all thanks to the handy dandy power of Findings (the little loops you attack to things so you can connect them to other things). Any basic beading book should be able to tell you how to do this:)

Oh those are just gorgeous.

Thanks:D I wish I could get my camera to focus on all of them, but I figure this will do for now. Glad you enjoyed them!
