Fall Kayaking

Something different! I want to start working with editorial illustration so I’m making a quick editorial based portfolio which I’ll send out to art directors next month. Trying some new subject matter and going to play with line work more in the next one. This was just a kayaking idea I’ve had thumbed out in my sketchbook for a while, I love kayaking and totally own a big yellow one.

I loove the colours! Do you plan them in any way, with color theory behind it, or does it come intuitively?
