Why not Lesser Spotted?

Thanks :) I don't know if those are common here, in the Netherlands.

Young Great Spotted are really not too different from adults, just slightly smaller and different plumage, I believe.
This bird has completely different plumage and a shorter bill...
might not be common exactly, but still possible in the area..?

After reading some info about it on Wikipedia, I'm actually still not sure. It says the Lesser ones have barred black and white stripes on the wings and back, but this one seems to have a bigger spot of white on its back. It could be possible though, in the area I photograped it.

I think I'v got it...Middle Spotted? (Honestly, who names these things?)
It has the similar large white patch with smaller bars, red 'vent', short bill, and red crown..

Hehe, no idea. And that could be it. :)
