Ready For the King

I painted this on the floating dock yesterday morning while the rest of the crew was hard at work. We’ve been spending a lot of time and effort getting the Kalmar Nyckel ready for the King and I can’t remember a time that she’s looked prettier.

This is absolutely amazing. I'm also taking a guess that this is watercolor, which if it is I love it even more due to how hard watercolor is to use.

Thanks! Yes, this was painted in watercolor - a nice portable nontoxic medium that I can use while sailing. I think that watercolor being "hard to use" is kind of a myth, though. IMO it isn't any harder to use than any other medium.

Yes, she is very complicated. These older square-riggers have a really complex design because people hadn't learned to simplify them yet. And thanks! :)
