I just got a beautiful, big Wacom Intuos 3 tablet (9x12). I am totally fascinated with it, it's soooo nice and shiny! :D :w00t:
This is a completely new feeling and it's sooo much easier to work now, so I hope to start posting new work soon.

To all of you who have me in your devwatch and who comment frequently on my works, to the people I watch and whos talent I admire,  and last but not least to the friends I've managed to make during my stay here at DeviantArt I would like to say

Happy New Year:!:

 :stereo: :boogie: :stereo:

I hope 2006 finds you well, in good shape, happy and with plenty of inspiration.
May all of your plans come true and then some.
Also I hope you'll have a bitchin' time tomorrow. :D

Time people to work your musical muscles. :boogie:

Look at this picture, and find 75 clues and associations to various music bands.
I have so far found 50. I still need to figure out the other 25.…

So, let's find them together. The rule is you must only write the answers the people before you didn't find. Then we'll make a list of all of the bands.

Let me start:
Led Zepellin

Now it's your turn. :D

I have been tagged, more then once I might add... and by this I mean people tagging me do write random stuff about me. Oh, ok, let the madness continue.

So here it is 11 random facts about me of the top of my head:

1.I'm lefthanded. When I was in first grade kids used to bully me to write with my right hand so today I can pretty much use both. In fact whenever I write on a vertical surface (chalkboard for example) I always use my right hand. I also have the ugliest handwritting you have ever seen.

2. I'm affraid of spiders.  I probably  had a few nasty encounters with them when I was in Australia, but I honestly can't remember. Also I deeply dislike clowns after I watched the movie "It" (from Stephen King) when I was 8 years old. Clowns are creepy little paintfaced bastards. :D

3. Lived in Australia  for 4 years, until I was 5. First in Melbourne, then in Sydney, that's where I learned my English (although I don't have an Aussie accent). My family worked in the airline industry so for a better part of my childhood  I was in and out of planes and I traveled all over.. I've been to every continent except South America.

4. I started drawing when I was 2. :painter:

5. I think stupidity should be punishable by law. :slow:

6. I like wearing leather/metal/silver arm bands and leather watches. When I was a kid I used to wrap my arms with scarfs the same way gladiators and ancient queens wore their leather bands.  I'm also fascinated with swords and ancient weapons, I have no idea why.

7. I'm very non religious and dislike any types of dogma, religious, political, or phylosophycal because they prevent people from thinking for themselves and questiong the world around them( "if you dissagree with us you'll go to hell/loose your job/ go to jail/ get linched/ burned at the stake" etc) which I find antyprogressive and dangerous. Don't try and preach anything to me, it just wont work.

8. I did yoga in high school, but now I'm to lazy to start over.

9.  I hate winter and cold weather with a passion. If you come up to me and say winter is great especially during the afore mentioned season I will most probably inflict bodily harm on your ass without any remorse. Give me summer, give me the sea, and give me a pina colada and I'll be happy I swear!! :sun: :relax:

10. I'm a night owl and I usualy paint my best work after 1 in the morning.

11.  I have a bit of a sweet tooth. I like candy, especialy orange flavored ones, so chances are if you ever meet me I'll probably have a pack in one of my pockets. I'm also a cocaholic, although lately I've been drinking Pepsi. :pepsi: :D

There....happy now? :P :D
I'll figure out whom to tag later...

I am officialy forced to paste this small set of questions in order for some keyboard happy people to answer. :D
So, here you are...knock yourselves out. ;)

1. Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.

2. Am I lovable?

3. When and how did we first speak to each other?

4. What was your first impression?

5. Do you still think that way about me now?

6. What do you think my weakness is?

7. Do you think I'll get married?

8. If you could give me anything what would it be?

9. Do you think I could kill someone?

10.what do you think my religion is?

11. Describe me in one word.

12.Am i a good artist(if im not you can be honest with it)?

13. Are you going to put this on your journal and see what I say about you?

DeviantArt is has changed, it's as simple as that. No more helpful comments, no more striving artists and community love. Instead, make way for annoying "be generous" buttons, less site, functionality for the non subscribing member and ads for sexy singles. The "collective rectum" has gone corporate and there's nothing to stop that.

Yet, the sad truth is that even the noblest of ventures eventualy end up like this. Whether it is because of the weakness of human character (greed) , or just a simple law of nature (survival) I can't really tell. Maybe ideals have an expiration date, who knows...

But that's not the problem here.

I undestand the need for DeviantArt to go corporate. With the amount of bulk uploads of (art)work  and the unbelievable cost to keep it alive, how can it not? I understand that money is an important issue and that tough decisions need to be made.

But when not one, but both founders (jark and matteo) end up leaving or being removed from staff  you know that there is something wrong with the picture. Something that exceeds the old community versus corporation problem.

No more pugs or yellow aliens for this website....
And that IS a problem.

Every corporation, even the biggest ones need to conduct themselves with basic honor and integrity, othervise their reputation will be tarnished. Also respect is a key for a succesful business no matter what it's nature may be and especialy if the business revolves around a community such as ours.  Respect for their consumers (namely us), the employees and especially for their founders. I fail to see respect in this new DeviantArt, I'm affraid.

One of the things I deeply dislike about this whole incident is the whole "Yeah, they are gone, but no big deal, moving on..." tone that I hear in the statements of the remaining staff.
How can this possible be depicted as a minor setback, or incident? We are talking about the people who created this site from scratch, from the  idea and abstract concept, to the first line of code. And even though many others added with their efforts to the significant growth of DA I still fail to take the loss lightly.

Also, this goes beyond jark and matteo. If you browse trought the DA pages of the old staffers, you will see that many of them have resigned. Euphoria, Dygel, Attila, Phae and many others are now ranked as "former staff". I think that speaks volumes.

I doubt that we will told the full story any time soon, due to legal issues and disclosure agreements. I also doubt that jark and the others will ever get back their old status unless this becomes a legal battle. It is a sad time for DA.

The biggest tragedy however is that the community spirit is tainted. It has been dying slowly for a long time now, yet this blow has damaged it the most, and although I see many deviants gathering in support of jark and matteo I dont think that it will help get DeviantArt back to the way it used to be "back in the days" when it had spunk, and spirit and when it was a joy to upload and share comments.
I hope you'll prove me wrong about this.

In the end the question that needs to be answered not just by Spyed and the remaining staff, but by us, the members who make this website is:

What happens now?

Is it just me , or are these new beggar signs on our webpages just plain annoying? :D

I mean, if people really want to be good sports and buy you a subscription, they really don't need a tacky, yellow sign to do so...

Anyone have any suggestions for good webhosting? I'll finish my site in a week, so I need to choose just where exactly to hang it. :D

The original text from:…

"Dear Mr. Architect:

Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so you should use your discretion. My house should have somewhere between two and forty-five bedrooms. Just make sure the plans are such that the bedrooms can be easily added or deleted. When you bring the blueprints to me, I will make the final decision of what I want. Also, bring me the cost breakdown for each configuration so that I can arbitrarily pick one.

Keep in mind that the house I ultimately choose must cost less than the one I am currently living in. Make sure, however, that you correct all the deficiencies that exist in my current house (the floor of my kitchen vibrates when I walk across it, and the walls don't have nearly enough insulation in them).

As you design, also keep in mind that I want to keep yearly maintenance costs as low as possible. This should mean the incorporation of extra-cost features like aluminum, vinyl, or composite siding. (If you choose not to specify aluminum, be prepared to explain your decision in detail.)

Please take care that modern design practices and the latest materials are used in construction of the house, as I want it to be a showplace for the most up-to-date ideas and methods. Be alerted, however, that kitchen should be designed to accommodate, among other things, my 1952 Gibson refrigerator.

To insure that you are building the correct house for our entire family, make certain that you contact each of our children, and also our in-laws. My mother-in-law will have very strong feelings about how the house should be designed, since she visits us at least once a year. Make sure that you weigh all of these options carefully and come to the right decision. I, however, retain the right to overrule any choices that you make.

Please don't bother me with small details right now. Your job is to develop the overall plans for the house: get the big picture. At this time, for example, it is not appropriate to be choosing the color of the carpet.

However, keep in mind that my wife likes blue.

Also, do not worry at this time about acquiring the resources to build the house itself. Your first priority is to develop detailed plans and specifications. Once I approve these plans, however, I would expect the house to be under roof within 48 hours.

While you are designing this house specifically for me, keep in mind that sooner or later I will have to sell it to someone else. It therefore should have appeal to a wide variety of potential buyers. Please make sure before you finalize the plans that there is a consensus of the population in my area that they like the features this house has. I advise you to run up and look at my neighbor's house he constructed last year. We like it a great deal. It has many features that we would also like in our new home, particularly the 75-foot swimming pool. With careful engineering, I believe that you can design this into our new house without impacting the final cost.

Please prepare a complete set of blueprints. It is not necessary at this time to do the real design, since they will be used only for construction bids. Be advised, however, that you will be held accountable for any increase of construction costs as a result of later design changes.

You must be thrilled to be working on as an interesting project as this! To be able to use the latest techniques and materials and to be given such freedom in your designs is something that can't happen very often. Contact me as soon as possible with your complete ideas and plans.

PS: My wife has just told me that she disagrees with many of the instructions I've given you in this letter. As architect, it is your responsibility to resolve these differences. I have tried in the past and have been unable to accomplish this. If you can't handle this responsibility, I will have to find another architect.

PPS: Perhaps what I need is not a house at all, but a travel trailer. Please advise me as soon as possible if this is the case..."

So sad...yet so true...

I bet I got your attention with that journal subject huh? ;) :P

Anyway, even been annoyed with your boss? Is he generaly a prick, even on his good days? Do you really want to dismember him every time he says something?
Well, don't risk jail, just check out this link, and kill him in cyber space. :D

On a side note, I'm finishing up my website, so I'll be uploading all sorts of goodies there. :D
One day, if I stop being a lazy ass, I'll also do a few tutorials about how I paint to make some curious people happy. :D
Any requests?

Due to the change that DA has made to it's submission agreement, I have decided to postpone any new uploads that I have planed, until these legal matters are resolved.

Before deciding to comment on this journal please read what I have replied to Spyed in his journal, I hope it will clarify my decision more and prevent any flaming here.…

The thing is I'm a law student as much as I am a digital artist so I am fully aware of loopholes and subtle legal bindings that can be found hidden in contracts today.

Although I do not think DA has implemented this new user agreement to screw us over, as someone who has studied law for a few years now (and with top grades) I do not feel comfortable leaving any new artwork open to potential exploitation that may, or may not appear in the future.

Now, since I'm not a hysterical or overly impulsive person I will not delete, or do anything with the art I have allready posted. That would not be fair towards the people who faved my artwork. What's done is done- my art stays.

As for any new paintings, I won't upload them here for the time being.

As for you, you may do as you wish. I only urge you to read the agreement carefully (not the faq), think with your own head and make your own decision, whatever it may be.

Have a great week. :)
Does anoyone know which flower has any of the following meanings:
Deception, Illusion, Regret, or Sorrow?
I have this idea for a painting and I would like to insert some symbolysm in its elements, and not just draw any old flower.
So I need your help. :)

Now, I know, people are going to say "Google is your friend" and urge me to look it up myself, but I have allready
and the only sites that keep anything similar are bride and wedding sites and they have all the happy meanings, and everything is lovey dovey, so they are pretty much useless for me.
So, if anyone knows this I would be grateful.

And please don't tell me it's the Snapdragon , cause it's one ugly ass flower. :D
(warning, heavy ranting ahead)

In short: I will NOT work for free!!

Lately I've been getting a tone of emails from people asking me to either give away my work, or do commisions for free.

Now, what pisses me off is that some ask this even for obviously commercial endeavors.
"Please give us your print, painting, webdesign, for our _______________ (insert commercial project), because we think you are so _____________ (insert a large amount compliments designed to massage my ego and trick me into accepting) but we wont give you any money, in fact we would like you to do this entirely for free, as we have a tight budget (*cough bullshit *cough).

This has become increasingly common in these past months since my painting style has improved. Increasingly common and increasingly annoying.

Now, that is why I would like to set off some rules. Remember this carefully:

- Offering me 20$ for a complex commision is downright insulting. Draw it yourself.

- I don't care if your budget is tight. If you can't pay for it, find something more affordable, or do without it.

-Do you go into a shop to buy things and say "Sorry I can't pay for this, but I would like to take it anyway". You don't. Then don't try this with me.

-The only time I gladly do paintings or webdesigns for free is for friends, family and people who are generaly dear to me. If you're not one of those, don't even bother.

I am a student, paying of college bills and trying to make a living between exams. My time is precious. If you don't respect my time and effort, you don't respect me and I don't like that. Therefore I don't like you.

- I don't care if the work is fun, or if you'll give a link to my webpage. If I want fun I can find it myself, and as for linkage I am linked enough. The day I want to get more artistic exposure I will pay for the advertising myself, like every normal person.

- Don't expect an answer from me.  So far I have been answering politely to these emails, but frankly I have lost my patience. Now, I'll just ignore any such requests.

-PS I am not arrogant I just don't like being exploited.
