my tribute to Norman Rockwell parodies his " The Gossips" painting, used for the cover for the Saturday Evening Post. I've been wanting to do this one for some time!
Copic Markers and acrylic paint on Strathmore recycled paper, with digital text.

For the cover of issue 62 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic from IDW Publishing, with interior art also by me!

This is hilarious! Your art is inspiring! I'm working on comics of my own and working toward publication. A lot of people don't know how much work goes into comic making. You're really good at it!
Two thumbs up for Norman Rockwell!

I did my own play off a classical piece for my comic.

Thanks so much for sharing!!
One of the things I really come to appreciate about MLP are the tributes and shout-outs to so many things in pop culture, such as this.  I am very familiar with that original "Saturday Evening Post" cover by Norman Rockwell, and it remains one of my favorite works by him.  I'm very glad to see that these tributes pop up in the comics as well as the shows.  I can understand why MLP has such a big following outside the target demographic...  seems there's something in there for everyone, including those of us who appreciate these little cultural references.  Thanks for the great work!

Why is Cadance so awful to Shining? I thought she was supposed to love him? In fact most of these are Ponies I at least think would care for or respect Shining Armor, but they're all being so cruel to him in this.

please read the above description- there is no specific secret or saying involved. This is a parody of a Norman Rockwell painting titled "the Gossips", and just shows the folly of how gossip changes from person to person.

Why did it have to be that she say anything about Shining at all? Perhaps it was something he told her about something/someone else, and she passed it along? Why do you immediately have to jump to the negative instead of simply enjoying the humor of the situation?

I get it, Andy; it just goes to show how little of our culture has been passed on from generation to generation...  this is a play on what was one of Norman Rockwell's most famous paintings and SEP covers...  but the younger generations have never seen or heard of any of this....
I fear so much of our cultural history will be lost because our media and education systems seem to foster a hatred rather than an appreciation of our culture... MLP Emote Twilight Sparkle Cry Sad

This is most definitely fantastic.

What did Cadence say to Twilight, and what did Shining Armor hear and say to Cadence? I'd been dying to know for months, so I was very disappointed to find that the cover had nothing to do with the story.

Feel bad for Shiny, kinda mean for Cadance and Twilight to go spreading gossip about him when they're meant to be close to him. Do the comics not like Shiny or something, he seems to be the butt of a lot of jokes in them.

It's way worse in the fandom. I've seen countless creations where he either gets mocked, beat up, or in some other way gets the short end of the stick. It happens way more to him than any other character; it seems like it such a high percentage of his appearances that it's the majority, not a whole lot where it's not like this. In comparison to other characters. If he's such a supposedly beloved character, then why does the fandom hate him so much? Why do they keep doing this to him?

Yeah it's really disheartening...

Andy I love your art. Thank you for helping take an already amazing thing-that thing being pony-and making it truly magical, amazing and memorable. Before being a brony I was a Trekker and a furry. I never imagined I'd be blessed with a third magical life-changing fandom. You've helped make SO many of my life's moments memorable, helped me through a lot of dark periods and helped save my life. Because of pony I've found friendships and kindness and so many reasons to live. You're definitely a big part of that. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

I'm currently reading Will Eisner's Comics and Sequential Art and a thought occurred to me: In regards to you, who keeps/will keep the original works when it's all said and done? The writer, line/ink artist, color artist, IDW? I'd imagine they'd be useful for a portfolio. (Though, in a heavy digital age, I don't know if physical copies are even necessary...) How are matters like that typically decided in the professional industry?

I keep all originals, which are typically sold to private buyers later.
