"Pacific Eruption"
This was one of the most intense sunsets that I've ever witnessed and it happened to be over a spot that had eluded me for a while.  I had set out to this other worldly location several times hoping for a great sunset to reflect in the pools of water.  Time after time, the marine layer would come in and I wouldn't get much of a sunset and then I'd leave disappointed.  The clouds looked promising late one afternoon so we decided to head to La Jolla and I camped out on this spot with no idea what was about to happen.  Initially I thought I was going to get skunked again as the sun dipped below the horizon and then boom!  The sky suddenly erupted with red and purple tones and I don't ever remember being so excited for a sunset.  How bittersweet it was and the best things come to those with patience :)  Please feel free to leave me a comment, critique, or share this image.  Follow the link below to view a higher quality image on my website or contact for print information.

Intense!  I've never seen any rock formation like this, and I know my way up and down the California coast!

Great image, and amazing location! Isn't it great when those unexpected sunsets just happen? Totally makes all the other fruitless trips worth it :-)
