The Old Bookstore by andreasrocha The Old Bookstore by andreasrocha
Two weeks ago I asked the DA community to pick the theme for my next painting and the "Small magic books library located in a small dark alley at night" won.
I have always loved bookstores, especially the older classic ones...and sometimes, when I found a book I liked, it really was like MAGIC. Although they are disappearing (both stores and books) this an homage to all the ones that disappeared and the ones that are still around.
I also did this painting for my PATREON webpage. So, if you want to find out more about the way I work (brushes, step by step, realtime video and thoughts behind the image) head over to www.patreon.com/andreasrocha

Painting inanimate objects and buildings have always confounded me

This is awesome, I love the topic an the drwaing style. It looks so warm and...magical. I think something isn't quite right with the walls but I'm not sure. :I

wish you would make this into a small series, I believe this could be nice in different perspectives or different shops as such. :3

I think I like this version better (compared to the second one you posted more recently), because here it appears to be a more magical atmosphere due to the blue and purple tones; it looks and feels more dream-like.
Beautiful work, and old-fashioned book stores are indeed wonderful, timeless places! :)

It reminds me of Harry Potter, especially the type of lighting. This looks like a spot where Hermione would find the essential clue.

Love the warm and homey feel this painting evokes, especially being surrounded by a darker, more secluded atmosphere. It's like a beacon of hope, both literally and figuratively, especially from the point of view of culture vs ignorance. Simply love it and I feel happy just looking at it. I never visited an old classic bookstore, the type of little shop full of wood furnishings and the likes, but this is exactly like the ones I always imagined I'd love to see (and saw some of this type in photos a long time after) Thank you so much for creating and sharing such a wonderful place and atmosphere with us
And I for one don't think physical books, bookstores and libraries will ever really go down altogether, I read somewhere the market is already stabilizing, with only 1 out of 3 books being an e-book. Also, for some type of books - especially children's books and artbooks - there will never be a better replacement in e-form, so I think we're ok for at least a few more decades.

I love it! It makes me want to visit a small bookstore again. I always liked the atmosphere in small stores like these, but yeah there aren't many around anymore like you said ><

I really like the warm light streaming out of the windows mixing with the cold colours of the street. It gives the store an inviting feeling.^^

Sweet! I would totally spend a day and a half in there before someone could drag me out. It really is a shame about the disappearing bookstores; I remember how heartbroken I was when my old hometown bookstore closed, followed by many others locally. So thank you for the tribute! It's definitely got that magic spark I miss so much. Love
