I've been saving this one in my inbox for a while now just to write about it, it's one of my favourite photos from this artist!
I'd like to say that the natural lighting and hand made scroll are great additions to this piece, congratulations on that for sure. I think the light, bright airy nature of the photo is what draws me in the most, I love how the light sand and bright blue compliment the light white elements and golden brown shells.
I like the way the scroll was positioned leaning against the bottle top, the little burnt edges of the string are really convincing that the paper is old and somehow a part of a secret treasure hunt. I love the overall combination of the child-like fairytale elements; it's a very uplifting and light-hearted kind of photo that could really help tell a story.
The DOF is used to wonderful effect, the swirl of the shell in the foreground is made even more abstract with the loss of focus, but not so much that it can't be identified as a shell. Also, the bright white bokeh is a wonderful background, so clear and sharp-edged but not too distracting from the main features of the photo.
My few suggestions for improvement;
- Adjusting the water mark so that it is in layer mode soft light or at least white text at 50% opacity, I know it's important to protect your works but I always worry that a solid watermark might distract a little overall, whereas a semi transparent one tends to work more with the picture and thus you can even choose to have a larger one without to much disruption to the subjects.
- Possibly might have benefitted from not having that shell right on the left most edge, it's pretty dark in comparison to the rest of the light elements and since only half can be seen it's not really adding much to the overall sense of the picture. could also be edited out if a lot of careful healing tool with a soft edge was used. But might just be something for consideration when taking future photos.
These are small things to find in a great image, don't let those get you down, they are just pointers for future changes you might make. Really I am the greatest fan of this piece, light hearted and wonderful fun, and so creatively put together by hand!

i love the sandy colors all over the entire picture, they give it a very calm expression. i love the shapes of the shells (especially the perfect swirl of the snaily one) and the little burnt particulars on the vellum paper and the cork.
the bubbly effect is amazing too and makes the watcher to pay more attention on the foreground items, toghether with the awesome macro effect.
i like also how you blurred/softened the shells and the environment that are very close to the camera.
A great piece of art, certainly worth to be featured and to get a DD <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt="
