Here's a quick figure study done today for fun. Needed to do something fairly mindless that I could just observe and paint, and figure drawings are always a good option for that.

This one in particular is fun because I attempted to paint this same photo just before starting at TAD. If you're up for a laugh, check it out: [link]

Needless to say, I think I've improved, haha. I thought I was a pretty good painter back then, but good gravy some of those forms and values are just abysmal. Not to mention the wonkytastic proportions. Plus it took me 3x as long as this one did, hah.

Thanks to justmeina for the great reference! [link]

HOLY CRAP HIS FEET ARE DISAPPEARING!!! ;_;

huh. amazing to see the difference! using a whole pile of tones instead of just the one selection... I think the colour choices alone help make this a very nice study.

Disappearing in to mysterious mist of mysterious misty mystery.

And thanks very much! I'm glad you think so! :)

much softer looking, comparing to the original... the original looks rather harsh in comparison ;_;

keep up the good work!

You've definitely improved Andan, this is really good :). The only thing I can see that looks slightly off would be the length of the torso, it looks a bit short which in turn makes the arms look a bit long. Otherwise though, it's good!

Thanks, Lhune! And yeah I agree there's some proportional issues going on still, gotta keep workin on that. Practice practice!
