My part in a Tolkien themed secret Santa on tumblr.
I like to think that Bilbo became friends with Lindir during his stay in Rivendell. He may not be able to tell the difference between the writing style of a hobbit and the one of a man but I think he enjoys and respects Bilbo’s work and you can catch the two discussing stories and comparing their poetry and music. And maybe Lindir helped Bilbo with his history of the Elder Days.

It's not a far stretch to envisage these two being friends - I'm sure Bilbo would have appealed to a lot of the Elves of Rivendell, simply for the novelty value! I like how you depict them as intellectual peers (even though we know that it is impossible, in truth!). It shows the benevolence of the Eldar, as well as Bilbo's status as one of the most important individuals in Arda's history - no mean feat!
