Comments can no longer be edited after a certain amount of time, so we ask that you post ONE strudel per comment, so that you can hide the comments after it has been traded off. Posting multiple in the same comment causes confusion if you cannot hide just one strudel in particular. ALSO if your strudel is not on the masterlist, please post to the Can't find your strudel? entry on the StrudelCupboard (https://www.deviantart.com/strudelcupboard) to help us find any missing babies! I'M TAKING COMMISSIONS! [link] ~~

Wow! I'm truly overwhelmed by the feedback I got on this journal! Thank you so much, my dear watchers!! You're AWESOME. You have no idea how helpful your comments were, and how much warmth I felt inside while reading them. Before this journal I had been too afraid of the reception of my art to try out different things. Now I think I'm ready. But gradually. I will still be drawing "my" things, don't worry. ;p

(end of edit)

OK guys! Time for some changes. Yeah, I know that my gallery has *always* been a total mishmash when it comes to styles, but I also drew and painted focusing too much on how my pictures would be received. Because of that many ideas or sketches went to trash with thoughts that "they would not suit my gallery".
But recently I've noticed that I stopped caring about it.

I'm currently during that phase of life when I'm occupied with so many commercial projects that I hardly find time for drawing for myself. And when I do, I really want to create what I *want* to create in that peculiar moment, to try totally new subjects and just see how I execute them. That's why, just out of curiosity and as form of a warning, I'm asking you, my dear watchers, a question. And please answer honestly.

:bulletred: How would you react if I started submitting things totally out of my style, like unfinished comic-style doodles, kawaii/manga/anime pictures, anthro, pin-ups or erotica (not only straight!!), mixed media experiments, landscapes with no purpose, etc? :bulletred:

Would you unwatch me? would you think negatively about me (like: "what a weirdo, I hate anthro/manga/slash, I'm loosing all respect!")? And would you indeed prefer my gallery to be coherent in style?

Thank you in advance for answers, I highly appreciate any feedback!

Hello there! I just wanted to say that I truly understand why you ask this questions to your watchers! I've been thinking to set up a poll if my watchers do care about me changing style sometimes or not. I usually draw children illustration stuffs since I'm a children illustrator but sometimes I have the other side of me where I want to draw semi realism + dark surreal stuffs too. I'm worried if my watchers don't like it.. since I think they expected me to draw in one style.

But after looking at your journal here, I think I'm more relieved now... even myself doesn't mind if you draw different style sometimes, because variety is needed in the gallery too! So, keep drawing what you like then! :D

I would go, "Oh look, they're branching out!" and move on with my life. There's no such thing as, "I drew something that isn't my style!" If you drew it, it is inherently yours. The more things you draw, and the more different ways you draw them, the more you'll see little things that connect them all. You'll gain a deeper understanding of your style. Style is more than a superficial look. It's an inherent part of you that will always appear in everything you make. If you make something that doesn't match your previous style, then that previous style wasn't your style. It was a technique, or a certain look, or whatever, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Personally, I think it's cool when people try new things. They grow and change and the old things that they enjoy doing change and grow with them.

I'm going to try to control myself and not write a twelve page essay on the meaning of art, personal growth, and life.

Aw haha, I would indeed like to read that ;) Because you made some very good points. I was sure that I already know that new styles/techniques only help developing my own way of drawing, but still, I was too afraid to try out these things. I feel that after all these comments I'm finally ready. :D

Thank you!

I can't honestly say that I'd keep watching you if you switched entirely to erotica, or abstract mixed-media. But I like seeing sketches and landscapes, and I love anime and manga.

But, really, being an artist shouldn't be about figuring out how to please the most people; just do what you feel inspired to, and share it with those who will look.

don't worry, I won't change my style permanently, and I definitely won't draw too much erotica. I just like to try myself in new genres. ^^

Thank you!

I'd love to see all sides of you as an artist! If I don't like it I won't favourite, if I love it I will :P Post everything! No reason for you not to show off all of your art. If there are two drastically different sides to your art, maybe you could consider making two separate accounts? Just link all the watchers from one account to the other, so we can choose to watch both if we like :) just an idea

thank you for yoru feedback! making another account is definitely something I'd like to avoid. That's why I wanted to warn my watchers and ask what they think ;) but good to know that you'll be ok with that :D
