" me?! You just vanish without a trace a few centuries ago, and all of a sudden I find you here, on this insignificant, deplorable planet of all places? Have you forgotten everything we went through together?"

Believe me, I can't forget.

"We were a team, Emerald! We were one of the best teams in Homeworld's army! But then you disappeared, and all that notoriety we were going to obtain...all gone! Everyone thinks you sided with Rose Quartz and those other traitors! How insulting do you think that is for Homeworld? For me?"

You didn't seem too interested in my well-being before, Peridot."

"We're Gems! It's not part of our job so let something as useless as emotions get in the way of our objective. War isn't a plaything. Anyone who opposes Yellow Diamond must be disposed of! Especially allies of Rose Quartz!"

I don't care about Rose Quartz. That cause means nothing to me. However, I'm not going back to Homeworld. I was nothing but a murderer there, and there is nothing I can do to change that. But I've found creatures here that accept me despite the monster I was. I'm not leaving them.

"Seriously?! Do you have any idea what I've been through since you disappeared? You think what I do doesn't take a toll on me? Those idiotic Crystal Gems have been on my trail ever since I got stranded here, and I couldn't even attempt to conquer this planet without threats from Jasper or Yellow Diamond looming over my head!"

You still haven't given me a reason to care, Peridot.

"You want a reason? I'll give you a reason! Because you're supposed to be my fighter! That's how it worked! You helped rid us of our enemies, and I would collect the data that would help us dispose of those enemies faster! Why is that so hard to understand? WHY CAN'T YOU SEE HOW IMPORTANT ALL THIS IS TO ME?!"

So you're saying that if you had been in my position, you wouldn't have been bothered at all with killing a life-form right in front of its youngling; seeing that youngling's eyes stare through you with such disgust and hatred; having to endure hearing the sounds of screams, and bloodshed, and chaos when others hear nothing but silence for centuries. Can you honestly look me in the eye and say that?
