Animated Atrocities-Kenny the Cat by AMX-269 Animated Atrocities-Kenny the Cat by AMX-269
Okay, to be fair, the only cringe-inducing audio in the episode was the fact that Biz Markie voices Kenny. It's not that his voice work was bad, per's just that his voice felt completely out of place for the character. Why does a skinny, grey cat have the voice of a big black man?

But that's just a little nitpick of mine. Besides, there are plenty of other problems to focus on that just cannot be ignored. The lesser one is the fact that when Kenny's oxygen tank is exposed near the end of the episode, all of his fans turn on him...despite the fact that they know his special talent is holding his breath for a really long time. Did they honestly think he could just go around like that without having to refill his lungs even once? At least SpongeBob was willing to hear Kenny out and try to help him; in fact, SpongeBob was surprisingly tolerable in this episode.

However, this leads to probably the most intolerable character in the episode: Miss Sandy Cheeks. Before she even meets Kenny, she immediately assumes he's a scumbag simply because he's a cat. Sandy being a hypocrite in "Squid Defense" because of her whole "karate is not to be used for vengeance" spiel is one thing; her displaying discriminatory behavior when she herself has been on the receiving end of unfair discrimination ("Someone's in the Kitchen with Sandy," anyone?) is quite another. And that's not even her worst action in this episode.

Remember that infamous moment in "Pressure" when Sandy started to drown because she took her helmet off in the Krusty Krab, and all SpongeBob and the others did was laugh at her? So, having been on the receiving end of such disgusting behavior, surely Sandy wouldn't do that to someone else, right? Well, apparently not, since she (for no good reason) suddenly shows up at the Krusty Krab while Kenny is there and begins describing in detail what happens when lungs are deprived of oxygen, causing Kenny to snap and resulting in the aforementioned exposing of the oxygen tank. Sure, considering that Sandy is now amoral enough to feed toxic sludge to "freeloaders" in the name of "science," this probably shouldn't be too surprising. And yet...holy crap.

And then they try to pass off her behavior by having her last line in the episode be "You can never trust a cat...or is it a dog?" So to recap...Sandy spent an entire episode displaying negative behavior which has previously been directed at her toward a complete innocent, exposing said innocent as a supposed fraud in front of all his fans, and doesn't learn a lesson regarding her hypocritical behavior, only to reveal at the end that it all could have been over nothing.

At this point, one can't help but wonder if the writers are deliberately trying to make all these characters as unlikable as possible so that everyone will finally stop caring and they can finally put this beaten, bleeding, dead horse out of its misery once and for all.

Biz Markie voiced Kenny? Then how come they didn't make him into a rapper if that's the case? 😑

Cool. I thought Kenny the Cat was Bugs Bunny turned himself into a cat.

Wow, I guess there is a resemblance. That makes Biz Markie's voice fit even less.

I love how Mr. Enter finds this episode harmless.

Well...I guess considering some of the worse SpongeBob episodes out there, this episode is harmless. It's definitely not as bad as, say, "Breath of Fresh Squidward." Unfortunately, hypocrisy is often a common occurrence that I come across in SpongeBob episodes that I think are bad; it's my main complaint in "The Abrasive Side," too.

Yeah, but I think the atrocity score was way too high.

Kenny might had been a fake, but Sandy was such a cunt in this episode.

Honestly, I thought the reason why Sandy hated cats was because cats are hostile to squirrels in real life. It made sense to me why she acted the way she did in this episode, and I guess it's the reason why I don't hate the episode as much as most people.

Even getting past that, this episode is fucking boring.
