Chapter 12: hands
Friday. The only day when we're free. Also the day that I'm finally gonna learn magic. Now I'm waiting for Ced and Nikki to come. Those two are always late. What do those two even do every late night?
Ced arrived. "Where's Nikki?" I asked him. "She's on her way." He said as he entered the room and put his bag down. Why are these two always late?
Nikki arrived. "Sorry I'm late. I forgot to set my alarm clock last night."
"Ok. Can we start now?"
"Sure. Just let me put my stuff down first."
At the school field...
"Let's start!" Nikki said as she pulled out her wand. She looked at me. "Oh yeah I forgot. Magic with no wand."
I opened the book that we borrowed from the library of St. Helia. The first page read;
"This book is a guide for those who want to learn wandless magic. There are also several spells for the reader to try.
Signed by Queen Helia Reinhold herself"
I flipped to the next page and read it.
"Wandless magic is either easier or harder depending on how well your knowledge on magic is.
For beginners, try to feel the aura of magic within you. To do that, sit down and close your eyes. Don't think about anything. Just focus on your intentions.
When you see a glow (remember that your eyes are closed), it indicates that you are in the realm of magic. Though you are sitting down, you can make movements. This is called astral projection.
Walk around the realm until you see an animal. Walk to it slowly. Once it sees you, wait for it to approach you. If the animal lets you pet it, it means that it has accepted you and it is now your source of magic. Open your eyes and you'll start to feel magic in you hands.
Note: the chances of the animal accepting you is 52.3%."
52.3%?! Well, at least it's higher than fifty.
"Give it a go." Nikki said. I nodded. I closed my eyes and tried not to think about anything.
A few minutes later...
There was a glow. I was now in the realm of magic. The book said that I can move because of astral projection, so I stood up and walked around.
The realm of magic is very beautiful.
I couldn't see an animal anywhere. "Hello?" I heard something. "Down here."
I looked down and saw a fox. The color of it's fur has shades of green and a little bit of yellow.
I flinched a little. "Sorry. Did I scare you?" It said. "Maybe a little." I smiled at the fox.
"What is your name, traveler?" It asked me. "My name is John benedict. You may call me JB if you want."
"Ok JB! You don't need to be so formal." It said. "My name is Sora by the way. Did you come here to find your source of magic?"
"Yes. I am also learning to use magic without a wand."
"Oh, okay then. I will gladly accept you. But be warned, use your power properly." It said. "I won't. What happens if I don't?"
"The realm will become dark and corrupted. That already happened once. That's why nowadays people use wands instead of their own hands." I couldn't imagine what the realm looks like back then since it looks so beautiful.
"You may pet me now." Sora said. I gently placed my hand on it's fur. It's so soft. "I guess I'll have to now."
"Will I be able to see you again?" I asked it. "Since I'm also a spirit and a dream guardian, you'll be able to see me when your dreaming. But, not every night though. Just every once in a while."
"Okay then. See you next time."
My surroundings started to fade to black. I opened my eyes. I'm back in the school field.
I could feel something in my hands. Magic. It's magic! I looked at my hands and a faint glow was being emitted from them. Nikki and Ced also looked at my hands.
We were all amazed. "Did you see the animal? Did it accept you?" Nikki asked. I nodded. "What's on the next page?" I asked.
Nikki flipped to the next page.
"Now that you can use magic with your hands, you can now learn the first step. This is first and easiest step. Try to cast magical energy from your hands.
In order to do that, hold out your hand and close you eyes. Since this is your first try, your source animal must be active. If you see a pair of eyes that are the same as your source animal, it indicates that your source animal is active. There will be white light and when it gets too bright, open your eyes.
Congratulations. You can now cast magical energy through your hands.
Note: You won't need to check if your source animal is active the next time you try to cast magical energy."
"That should be easy enough." I said. I held out my hand and closed my eyes.
A pair of eyes appeared. My source animal is now active. A light started to glow. It went brighter and brighter, until I opened my eyes.
All our eyes widened. Magical energy is being emitted from my hands. Students around us were watching. I can finally do magic!
"That's amazing, JB!" Nikki praised me. "Yeah, she's right." Ced added. "How does it feel?"
"It feels good. A bit tingly, but good." I responded.
A student approached us. "That's pretty amazing buddy." He said. "How'd you do that?"
Nikki hid the book behind her. I heard a voice in my head; He can't know about the book. He might lose control. It's like she communicated with me in my mind.
"Practice. Lot's of practice." I said to the student. He gave me an 'okay-then' look and left. I turned to Nikki. "How did I hear your voice in my mind just now?" Ced looked at her. She looked a bit nervous.
"I'll tell you tomorrow. Right now, you got a lot more to learn."
Tomorrow. Is this girl hiding something? She hates secrets but she keeps them. Wow this girl is weird
