Tease

Selene’s day had already been long, but she never minded making an entrance, and this particular staircase was perfect for it, wide enough for her crutches to click in an even rhythm, open enough for anyone below to catch the full view of her confident climb. Her long black hair swayed against the line of her blue suit jacket, the short black skirt below riding that delicious edge between professional and provocative. Each lift of her hips on the steps made the hem whisper upward, the faintest curve of her left thigh’s smooth stump flashing like a secret between movements.

Halfway up, she felt it, warm and persistent, the prickling awareness of eyes on her back. She didn’t turn right away. Instead, she gave the next step an extra tilt of her hips, as though adjusting for balance, letting her skirt lift just a fraction more. Then she glanced over her shoulder.

Alex. The new hire. Standing one flight below, his gaze locked a little too low to be admiring her jacket. The moment their eyes met, there was no mistaking it, he’d seen. The flash of her bright red panties was still painted in his expression, somewhere between guilty surprise and open intrigue.

Selene’s lips curved, slow and deliberate, a smile that said she knew exactly what he’d been caught looking at and didn’t mind in the slightest. She held his gaze for a lingering second, the tension between them pulling taut in the open space of the stairwell, before turning back and resuming her ascent. The crisp click of her crutches and the sway of her skirt carried her upward, each step seeming just a bit more deliberate than the last, as if she were daring him to keep watching.
