Leg Day

Cindy settled into the leg press machine with a casual ease that came from years of making her body adapt to a world built for arms. Her long green hair, shaved close on the sides, swayed slightly as she adjusted her position. The grey sports bra and matching spandex shorts hugged her athletic frame, the sleek material darkened slightly where her skin had warmed from earlier sets.

She stretched her legs out, toes hooking under the padded bar to pull it down toward her, flexibility wasn’t optional for her, it was survival. Her green eyes flicked to the weight stack, heavy, but not ridiculous. She liked to push herself, but she was here for endurance and control just as much as raw power.

Her running shoes pressed flat against the platform, calves tightening, quads coiling like springs. Then, with one smooth push, the sled slid away from her. The plates clanked faintly with the motion, and her breathing stayed steady, calm. She wasn’t just moving weight, she was reminding her body that her legs were her hands, her tools, her everything.

People glanced at her sometimes. Newcomers to the gym would do a double take, because she was armless, but she was used to that, she had gotten the stares every day of her life. She wanted them to see more though, to see the way she moved. Efficient. Controlled. Graceful, even with something as blunt as a leg press.

She didn’t rush the reps. Every press upward was followed by a slow, deliberate return, knees bending, muscles straining in a way she welcomed. Her core stayed tight, feet never wobbling.

By the tenth rep, her thighs burned, but it was the good kind of burn, the kind that told her she was still getting stronger. She exhaled sharply through her nose, set the sled back to its resting position, and let her legs drop from the platform.

Leg day wasn’t just a workout for Cindy, it was her way of keeping the world in reach.
