Great Grate.

It was finally happening. Susan was all dolled up, a dead ringer for Marilyn Monroe, save one rather minor detail. She stood at the southwest corner of Lexington Avenue and East 52nd Street, a wide, giddy smile plastered on her face. This was Susan’s first visit to New York, and recreating this iconic moment was high on her bucket list. She'd spent months perfecting her Marilyn look – the platinum blonde wig, the flowing white halter dress, even the beauty mark. Her friend, Andi, stifled a yawn, trying to at least appear interested as Susan practically vibrated with excitement.

"This is it, Andi! The spot!" Susan exclaimed, gesturing grandly at the rather unremarkable street corner. "The famous subway grate scene from The Seven Year Itch!"

Andi raised an eyebrow. "Looks... great."

Susan giggled, leaning closer. "I know, right? Ok, so maybe its a little less glamorous in real life, and here's a little piece of movie trivia Andi, they didn't even film it here! It was all done on a studio set, with a giant fan for the wind. Can you believe that? All the tourists, standing on this very spot, thinking they're walking in Marilyn's footsteps..." She trailed off, a dreamy look in her eyes. "But its the idea of it, you know? The legend!"

Andi looked around at the decided lack of any tourists, save Susan. Though a little underwhelmed by the ‘historic’ location, she was a good sport about it. "Alright, Marilyn," she said, pulling out her phone. "Ready for your close up?"

Susan struck a pose, a perfect imitation of the screen siren, as the grimy New York subway grate failed to provide much of any breeze. Still, in her mind, she was Marilyn, and this was her moment.
