Description
Yixian collaboration.
Dilong paradoxus, raptorex kriegsteini, psittacosaurus lujiatunensis, generic microraptorinae dromaeosaurid. This is the pencil work for a collaboration between myself and the awesome
. I had been putting this off for a while because of class assignments and my other artwork.
Here is another example of my tyrannosaur obsession, me drawing the little Dilong eating Triceratops' primitive cousin, Psittacosaurus. And then the curiously built tyrannosaur, Raptorex trying to scare off the smaller Dilong to get a free meal.
Just sent it on the 6th of May 2011. Hopefully Pos Malaysia doesn't screw up and lose it! Can't wait to see what Jacki does with her paintbrush when she gets her paws on it
To have a look at the color patterns of the animals, have a look here
There's no official title yet for this baby.

Great image that tells a story and with dynamic movement.
However the overall tone of your shading is too monotone to make the image stand out strongly. Your dinosaurs blend to much into the overall picture.
I think if you pushed your shadows darker it would help the image "pop" more. Having the background a lighter shade will also help it sink back more. Line thickness can also help with thicker lines standing more in the foreground than thinner ones.
This is an area that I also struggle with... it's daunting to push your light and dark areas in a pencil drawing, especially if you plan on coloring it digitally later.
Overall a great pic with lots of potential!
