"When You See the Slenderdactyl..."
Quetzalcoatlus northropi, Triceratops prorsus. An acrylic painting of young Triceratops who wandered away from his family and stumbled across the Slenderdactyl.
This is a follow-up to my previous Slenderdactyl painting from earlier this year, which I was unsatisfied with. So, I decided to redo it but at a larger scale (the original was 11”x17” while this one was painted at 20”x30”). I managed to get something closer to my satisfaction. I might have at least one more Slenderdactyl painting in the near future, but a little more cryptic in nature.
I experimented with some different techniques to render Slenderdactyl’s fur, namely using techniques usually meant for rendering foliage. It worked well in my opinion.
Completed in early August 2020.
Done using acrylics, color pencils, Photoshop CC.
