 “The Reprieve of Rain”

Tyrannosaurus rex. Helushka, the Tyrannosaurus, relishing in the feel of fresh rain. The cherished downpour just so happened to also snuff out a bad local forest fire.

This illustration unintentionally became highly topical, its completion coinciding with the recent fires in Los Angeles. I originally started this idea sometime in the middle of 2023 and shelved it until December 2024.

Putting this piece on the backburner for that long did help, since in the meantime I had learnt how to render a wet surface with acrylics. I still erred on the side of caution and only added the falling rain in Photoshop.

Completed in early January 2025.
