“The Smell of Rain”
Tyrannosaurus rex, Ankylosaurus magniventris. An acrylic painting of Helushka, the Tyrannsaurus, sniffing the oncoming rains as an Ankylosaurus forages on a riverbank.
This was a piece I wanted to do right after my previous landscape piece with Helushka being harassed by a flock of Ornithomimus. The clouds were inspired by some I saw while driving on the highway a few months ago. I have been itching do more paintings with more dynamic lighting these days. I have a few more planned in my art pipeline.
This is the first Tyrnanosaurus piece I painted right after watching Prehistoric Planet, which has one of the best T.rex designs I have seen. So, I decided to incorporate some elements of it into my Walking with Dinosaurs inspired design. I frankly quite like the combination.
Completed in early June 2022.
Done using acrylics, color pencils, and Photoshop 2021.
I love seeing paintings where the dinosaurs are peaceful and going about their day with vast scenery and dramatic lighting.
