"Little Duchess the Adoropod"

Diplodocus hallorum. A digital painting of a baby Diplodocus which a friend and I named Little Duchess. This idea was born out of a joke paleontologist Kristi Curry Rogers made about coming up with a term to describe young sauropods at SVP 2015. I suggested "sauropodlet" (from Walking with Dinosaurs), and it turns I was the second person to suggest it. But Brad McFeeters coined a name much more appropriate, "adoropod". 

I chose to depict a juvenile Diplodocus as another presenter at the sauropods talks talked about a young Diplodocus they had uncovered. I had the opportunity to check out the cast he had brought with him. 

So, I painted this up as a result.
