"A God Amongst Scavengers"
Quetzalcoatlus northropi. A digital painting of one of the largest pterosaurs ever to have existed. On all fours, this big guy was almost as tall as a full grown giraffe (but a lot lighter).
I really like using my new Intous4 tablet in addition to Photoshop CS5. Really nice stuff. I did the pencil work back in December and scanned it here with my relatively new Epson scanner.
Completed on the 3rd of March 2012.
Done using pencils and Photoshop CS5.

To begin with, I really love how you use the colors of the background hazy while the colors of the pterosaur's more defined. This gives the expression of power and majesty of the animal. I have also noted that you are very accurate with the scientific details of the animal. The only tip I have dealing with the science, is that I would of made more detail of the muscle fibers in the wing membrane. With the whole composition as art, I really like how you place the rock next to the animal, and making it look down at the rock. This gives it a strong intimidation. The only artistic tip I have, is the wings and body facing the ground need a slightly little more shadow, but other than that, this is a really excellent piece. I do believe this to be the most scientifically accurate Quetzalcoatlus northropi depiction I have seen. Great job and please keep me posted on your work.
