Just finished ME3 a few days ago so...... an Omni Tool /Omni Blade with flip out blade.

Made from trans-orange 2.5mm sheet acrylic (laser "cut", heated and hand bent) with a few 4-40 screws/nuts and straps here and there

The results of trying to understand the laser "cutter" at my job

The machine has certainly seen some better days and, when it comes to anything over 1mm, it becomes a laser engraver. But with hand tools and a little trickery I managed to free the parts from their sheet plastic prison.

Heated in oven at 325~350 for 15 min (with a little spot help from heat gun)and then bent by be-gloved hands into its final shape

So amazing! i love the detail of all the lines in it which make it look very futuristic for mass effect! Only one question... can it rotate? ;D

Oh I so want one of these... I'm having a friend help me make a full fibreglass femshep armour for a convention this year, and this is the one part that I wanted, but had to decide to give up :(

Can the blade swivel? as if it were a switchblade-style?

if it isn't, it still looks absolutely amazing.
I seriously wish I could do something like this

Yeah, it can rotate 180. Here's a pic [link]

Oh, that is awesome!

really great! but is it wearable?
ammnra's avatar
Yeah, it's wearable. There are two clear PVC (AKA Shower Curtain) straps. You can kinda see the back one in the photo... the front one is detachable (so you can strap it to your arm before you attach the omni tool). I actually tried to get a photo of it with my arm in it but it's surprisingly difficult to get a steady photo of your own arm.

i hope you'll manage to get a photo while wearing it ^^ I'm looking forward to see more of your work :)

Why you gotta make all the sexy stuff I can't afford the materials to make myself? haha
Well done, man.

Bloody brilliant! I had been wondering if anyone attempted to do the omnitool stuff and his answers my question..

Dude, that is a fantastic job for hand bending, it's hard to get it perfect when it's by hand!

Awesome detail, I'd buy this from you if I could! Great work, looks like the real thing.
