The Pride by AmethystBeloved The Pride by AmethystBeloved
The Pride is a Sakura Card found in The New Trials of Cardcaptor Sakura, Syaoran, and Friends by :iconwishluv: www.wishluv.revolutionhosting.…

This is my own lineart! I used MS Paint to colour it, but I sketched the the drawing. I figured that the least I could do was draw, "On the face of the card was a woman wearing a mask of purple pride with chin tilted up and eyebrows arched haughtily.". It looks cheesy, though.

This Dark Force was captured in Chapter 58: Eternal Rivals.

I am drawing all of these cards for three projects: The NT Picture Book newtrials.deviantart.com/favou…, The NT Fan Projects site newtrialsfanprojects.weebly.co… and the NT Wiki newtrials.wikia.com/wiki/New_T…

Sakura Card Frame by :iconasumei::fav.me/d4x7d9y Asumei designed the label and the symbol. Chinese characters are courtesy of Sa Halliwell.

This looks very nice! Yay, your own lineart! Arms crossed like that and chin tilted up, that's definitely a prideful posture. By the way, I totally missed this and... most of your other deviations, actually, when I glanced at your gallery a few days ago. Apparently, dA now shows 'featured' deviations by default, instead of all of them. Man, you leave the site for a few measly years and they change everything! :)

It was one of those Cards where the face was very descriptive ("a woman wearing a mask of purple pride with chin tilted up and eyebrows arched haughtily") and arms crossed was a posture that I didn't use yet. MS Paint wasn't being responsive to what I wanted to do so I drew it myself!

"Featured" means the art that's not in a folder. Actually, I arranged the deviations to be in NT chronological order a while back. I've been meaning to put it from newest to oldest and I just did. The last NT art by me that was out while you were on the site was my NT Christmas gifts. I started making Sakura Cards in April 2012 and in June I started drawing characters on the Cards. I find my last two, The Fortune (fav.me/d54cb72) and The Crystal (fav.me/d55gw66) are especially pretty. From that point I jumped into my NT 100 Themes Challenge project.

By the way, if you want to draw any Sakura Cards, go ahead! I'm sure your version of The Crystal would be very pretty~ you're great at drawing fairies! All of the descriptions of the Cards and Sakura's batlle outfits are here: newtrialsfanprojects.weebly.co…

Oh wow! That's amazingly organized! I was actually going to ask you about the cards, since I remember that there were definitely a few more I wanted to draw, and I didn't know if there was one place where all the drawings of them were collected.

Are you sure the Pride was sealed in chapter 58? Cuz I'm reading chapter 62 when Sakura's grandather was released from the Pride when she tried to seal it, but she couldn't because she still had pride

I'm positive! Unfortunately, unlike The Wave and The Phantom who wrecked havoc for many chapters before they were caught, The Pride was a tricky Dark Force *after* it was caught. I figured that it would be simpler if I stated when it was caught the first time.

On Nov 15th, 2009, BharadR posted in the Yahoo group:

<<"I noticed in [Chapter 63] that Sakura was trying to Seal the Pride but was unable to; the Pride affected her Grandfather. But didn't she already seal the Pride in Chapter 58 when she got it from Aki? I thought that card was already sealed, so why is it out again? It's not like the Li's can release the cards back into Dark Forces.">>

After a few theories, Wish-chan posted on the same day:

<<You're right about Sakura sealing the Pride from Aki. I can't explain in more detail because of spoilers regarding the Emotions, but here are some things to note.

1. Sakura can't truly seal the Emotion without first overcoming it herself
first.

2. The Sakura who originally sealed the Pride is not the same Sakura she is now with her memories recovered.

Hope that helps. But you are probably right that I should go back and include a mention of the Pride being faced already because looking back, I don't think I did the best job of explaining this in this chapter.

- Wish-chan>>

Here's the thread (where you shared a theory too): [link]

Finally after the reconciliation in Chapter 67, The Pride was sealed once and for all.

Teehee... I think you portrayed pride well in the expression.. and I like the purple face.... But agree, it's cheesy in a good way. ^^

It's my first lineart! My friend gave me a small porceline Venetian mask as a souvenir from her trip to Europe and that's what I used as my model to get the right angle.

Thank you for the comment! I never thought I would see the day where I had my own lineart scanned, but it happened!

Thanks for the support! Yeah, I told you that it was cheesy, but I really wanted to finish this. My friend who just came back from Europe gave me a small Venetian mask as a souvenir. I tilted it at an upwards angle and this is pretty much what I saw. I didn't sketch it too many times because nothing came as close to this one, which was the second or third try.
