Gabe looked up from texting his mom as he and Max walked into the MacKay house after a day at the skate park. Dad was working overtime and Mom had to close the store, so he wanted to know if he could stay for dinner at the MacKays'; Max had insisted he ask and was pretty sure his parents would say yes. Gabe took a breath as he looked around, a little surprised at the surroundings. Gabriel Carrara sighed as he stepped out of his maroon pickup truck, looking around the empty lot on Dutch Hollow Road that used to be a beautiful little ranch house. He shivered, hunching deeper into his pea coat and walking across the frozen ground. The post where the mailbox had been still stood, but the box was gone. The concrete slabs that had been the driveway were still there, but they were slowly being overtaken by foliage. The rest of the lot pretty much was taken over by foliage. Last night saw the first vigilante activity Cedar Creek has ever had. Clearly taking cues from various forms of vigilante-themed media, a mysterious individual thwarted a gun-running deal in the Vladovich-Wessex section of the city early this morning.
Police were alerted by an anonymous caller reporting shots fired and arrived to see a dark figure fleeing the scene while several known mobsters chased him or her with guns blazing. The CCPD currently has no leads on the identity of the would-be vigilante.
