“He’s not responding to my messages… I hope he’s alright.”
Eliane ran her hand through her hair as she pulled into the visitor parking of her friend Adam’s apartment complex. Despite her persistence in contacting him, he had been radio silent for the past two weeks. Thankfully, he had given her a spare key, so if push came to shove, she could let herself in. She scaled the stairway to her friend’s floor, subconsciously tapping her thigh as she did so, as if her body could not contain its own anxiety. After a journey that felt much longer than it truly was, Elaine arrived at Adam’s door.
Deciding to take a more diplomatic approach first, Elaine gave the door a gently knock.
