Articulated Watch Parts Creature "Hex"
created September 10, 2018

Hex is a fully articulated and poseable imaginary creature sculpture made completely from recycled watch parts. He has been soldered together with lead free, silver bearing solder...no glue in this piece.

Hex features a neck that rotates and tilts, shoulders that swivel, rotate, and tilt, elbows and wrists that swivel and rotate, as well as knees, ankles, and hips that rotate and tilt.

Hex's outer skin and head are made with watch dials that have been cut and sanded to shape. He also has eyes made of spring bars. His interior skeleton is made with many different watch parts. Bones are watch spring bars connected to various wheels and cogs. He has a spine made from watch stems, and 'organs' of watch gears and plates. All of his joints were made with cut spring bars that have been soldered into moveable joints with different axes of twist. Fingers and toes are winding stems.

This sculpture has taken around 30 hours of intricate work to complete.

Hex stands about 2.5 inches tall.

All creations made by A Mechanical Mind are one of a kind, never to be reproduced exactly. All parts are soldered, never glued. Sculptures are not toys and should be handled sparingly, as their parts are tiny and delicate.

This is seriously incredible. I've never seen anything like it in my life! What a creative idea, to use watch parts that way! Wonderful work. :)

The little guy looks almost like he'd be a spy droid in Star Wars. :)

It also looks like it's examining the nickel, trying to figure out what it is.
