You capture even the smallest details. I like how you worked very well on the shadows and highlights which make her pop out and look 3D. I know how hard it is to work on the hair and I must say you did spectacular job on that. You mastered every detail to make this look so life-like including the texture of the sweater she is wearing.

If there is anything that I would have corrected on this, it would be her lips. She must have very plump lips on the original picture but since you have the artistic license to change it however you want, I would have make it a little bit more proportional.

But overall, this is simply breath-taking.

As far as portraits go, you're top in my list. I've rarely seen anyone capable of doing hair, clothes and skin textures the way you do. The technique is unparalleled and I've seen my share without being able to do half as good.

Emmy's personality truly transpired into this artwork and every hair look textured as a photo-real look. Your talents are quite impressive and inspiring and make me wonder if 3D technology will ever get to where you are.

In my mind, you're a complete artist. You put life on paper and are able to recreate the stare, smile and everything down to the slightest hair. The shirt texture is amazingly well rendered.

Maybe I'll never be able to do this in my life, but I feel priviledged to have the opportunity to see it on the DA... simply breathtaking and a personal favourite of mine.

Oh! Critiques like these makes me want to push harder. It's MY pleasure to have people that want to see and appreciate what I do. Thank you very much! :thanks:

You should expose your work if you haven't already...
AmBr0's avatar
Not yet, will see...
Esbe77's avatar
You definitely should think about it... I would pay to see your stuff live (although I would probably need to take a plane too)
AmBr0's avatar
That's good to know, maybe there would be no need to take a plane.

There I go (I'm also unqualified).

I agree with all those who think it looks more like a foto than a drawing. That's perhaps because the textures (hair, cloth, even skin) are perfect. The hair is full of light and shadows, but you managed to make it look real. The skin is soft and reflects the light like a normal skin would. The shiny eyes, the form of the nose, the open mouth... no mistakes there. Vision and technique: 5 stars.

Excuse me for the 3 stars (originality), I just think it diserves that mark because she's a quite well-known artist (not where I live) and you also had a model to help you, I guess; she´s real. There is also nothing special in the content of the drawing, just a normal portrait, so I think the impact isn't perfect but almost perfect. However, I can't ignore how amazing each tiny detail is. It must have taken a lot of hours. That's alll.

By the way, I love it.

De nada y gracias por la llama. Para eso está dA, para que unos muestren de lo que son capaces y otros opinen. Allá va otra llama de vuelta. ;')

viewing this pic i went for the original...it is clear u have left nothing to perfect it.. i gave 4.5 for vision because its still clear to me its a drawing...looking at the left side of the face...it shows off a bit of work left to be done...
this makes it deviate from the original a bit that's why a 4 ...and 4.5 for the technique in everything specially the hair and the texture of the clothe
i am a bit of beginner ...so i do not know much about drawing but clearly it has a complete impact on me

I'm of awe of this portrait. It is really well drawn, especially the hair, just like everyone said . Very realistic so you get a:

5 for vision. Honestly, I couldn't tell until I looked at the category.

3.5 for originality because it's just a portrait. But I like the background added. I goes well with the drawing.

5 for technique because it seem so real. ^_^

4.5 for impact because I also draw portraits, and it inspires me to do better (hair especially).

Talking about the picture, I should nit-pick at a couple of things Looking at her eyes, it seems like one eye is lazy. I cant tell which, maybe the left (my left). I dont know if the reference you use was like that or not idk. Another unimportant thing is her skin; it looks likes there are a bit blotchy spots on her skin. But yeah, nothing else to say really.

I think the most impressive thing is the shirt. The texture and detail is like professional illusion. I zoomed all the way in and couldn't even tell. Fabrics like that are usually really hard to draw. You did this pretty well. The hair, just unspeakable. ^_^

Hope you find this useful. This is my first critque.

I agree with your very helpful point of view, specially the skin and the bit blotchy spots, the lazy eye it's maybe caused by her darker left eye not so pronounced in the real piece
Thanks a lot for your kind words and giving me the honor of your first critique. I must say it's very useful, articulated and complete. :thanks:

I'm sorry even though I may not qualify to write a critique concerning this work*. I must say I LOVE IT. I love your use of tone & i know love makes one blind to imperfections, but I really must say this looks flawless… and Amazingly so. WOW!

Photographs leave a lot to be aesthetically desired in comparison to this type of craftsmanship.

The hair. The moment in time. It's all perfectly frozen…

*I may speak from the voice of a fan, and not a professional pencil artist, but I am humbled even though I too am an artist…

Thumbs up!

I love the picture, goorgeous. I don't have a lot to say about it, but the only problem I have with it is the chin. The chin looks a little "wierd" to me. Not to be harsh but the chin kind of throws off the picture a little. Another thing is the hair I think it looked a little flat on one side maybe you could of kind of "poofed" it up a little more. Just to give it than perfection, or if thats how the photo was then I understand. But other than that the picture is absolutely amazing. (If I spelled anything wrong I'm sorry for the confusion.)
I agree with the chin also.. With that said, your an amazing artist and a thousand times more talented then me lol..
