Butterfly of Fire by Amazonofexeter Butterfly of Fire by Amazonofexeter
Ok, I have no idea on category for this one so my apologies...!

As the name suggests - just playing with lens effects - all done in camera...

Thank you :D

Very simple - using an slr because you need to be able to manually zoom the lens during the exposure, the butterfly itself is a clear acrylic one with an led inside that changes colour. focus on the centre and arrange the camera so that you have an exposure of 3 or 4 seconds, then hold the camera firmly and take the picture - as soon as the exposure starts then zoom in or out (depending on your start position) smoothly until the shutter closes again. Pay with zooming in little steps and zooming smoothly as the shutter closes to give a dreamy edge...good luck!!

what camera have you got? if its got a manual zoom on it then you should be ok...if its a compact with a powered zoom then no...although you could try just moving the camera away/closer to the subject...i can never remember which way works better...!!

Thanks! heheh...almost...but all done in camera...took quite a few attempts to keep the camera steady and the timing right so the effect looked ok and not too hard edged..

Apophysis is a great, free program for fractals. I use it for some clouds/mist.

True. I usually tell people what I do in case they're interested also. Though some may think I'm noobish. Who cares :icondorkdanceplz:

lol, well noobish is good - i'd rather see people asking for help and getting it so they can enjoy creating too...if people want to be scrooge then fine but meh, not for me...lol!!
