Description
Character Name: Sir Alderic the Knight
Overview:
Sir Alderic is a methodical and disciplined fighter, excelling in basic swordplay, defense, and endurance. While not flashy or magical, his moveset is based on real-world sword fighting techniques, with an emphasis on control, balance, and strategic use of openings. His plain armor and helmet make him appear like an everyday knight, but his skillset makes him a formidable opponent.
Attributes:
Health: Above average (due to heavy armor and durability).
Speed: Medium – Not as fast as lighter characters, but capable of delivering steady strikes and counterattacks.
Range: Long, with his longsword offering a solid mix of close and mid-range reach.
Stamina: High – Knights are trained for prolonged combat and endurance.
Stance:
Guarded Stance (Neutral): Alderic holds his longsword in front of him, shield up if equipped, or in a two-handed grip if unshielded. This is the neutral defensive stance, allowing for both parries and controlled attacks.
Basic Attacks:
Light Attack (Neutral):
Short Slash: A quick, horizontal slash aimed at the opponent’s midsection. It's fast and can be chained into combos. Good for interrupting slower moves.
Description: Straightforward and fast, this attack can be used in a rapid combo string.
Heavy Attack (Neutral):
Overhead Strike: A slower but powerful downward slash aimed at the opponent’s head or shoulders. This attack has good range and can break through weaker guard positions.
Description: This is a heavy, crushing blow with a wide arc, useful for breaking through defenses.
Combo Chain (3-Hit Combo):
Combo 1: Light Slash (horizontal), Light Slash (diagonal upward), Heavy Overhead Strike (downward).
Description: A basic but effective combo, blending quick attacks with a heavy finish to overwhelm opponents who try to block.
Special Moves:
Shield Bash (If equipped with a shield):
Input: Forward + Heavy Attack
Description: A strong shield bash that stuns the opponent momentarily, leaving them open for a follow-up attack. This move can also break through weaker blocks.
Lunge Strike:
Input: Forward + Light Attack
Description: A quick, thrusting strike with the longsword that covers more distance than a regular slash. This move is good for closing the gap between you and your opponent, with some added reach.
Riposte (Counter Attack):
Input: Down + Back + Light Attack (While blocking)
Description: A precise counterattack immediately after successfully blocking an attack. The knight performs a quick, precise thrust or slash aimed at the opponent’s exposed weak point.
Sweeping Strike:
Input: Down + Heavy Attack
Description: A wide, sweeping arc of the sword aimed at the opponent’s legs or midsection. This move can knock down or trip the opponent if it connects.
Shield Wall (If equipped with a shield):
Input: Back + Heavy Attack
Description: The knight holds their shield in front of them, bracing against incoming attacks. It’s a defensive move that absorbs the impact of most attacks, with a quick riposte counter if the opponent gets too close.
Advanced Moves:
Shield Parry (If equipped with a shield):
Input: Forward + Back + Light Attack
Description: A precise, well-timed parry with the shield that deflects the opponent's attack and opens them up for a follow-up combo or heavy strike. A perfect shield parry can throw off the enemy’s balance and create an opening.
Overhead Cleave:
Input: Down + Forward + Heavy Attack
Description: A mighty two-handed strike aimed from overhead. It takes longer to charge but is capable of breaking through blocks and dealing significant damage if it connects. Best used as a surprise attack or after an opponent has committed to a slow move.
Tactical Retreat:
Input: Back, Back + Light Attack
Description: A quick backwards roll or sidestep, used to disengage from combat and create distance. If performed correctly, it grants a temporary boost to the knight's defensive stance, making him harder to hit for a short period.
Throw (Grapple Attack):
Takedown:
Input: Grab (Close range)
Description: If close to the opponent, Alderic grabs them, pulls them into a grapple, and performs a quick, forceful throw to the ground, leaving them vulnerable to a follow-up attack. This move has a slight window of vulnerability for the opponent to break free, but it can be used tactically to create space or open a combo.
Super/Ultimate Move:
Final Crusade:
Input: Full Meter (Super Bar)
Description: Alderic channels all his strength into one mighty assault. He charges forward with a powerful shield bash followed by a rapid series of sword strikes, finishing with a devastating overhead cleave that sends his opponent flying backward. The move can deal substantial damage, especially if the opponent is caught off guard.
Defensive Techniques:
Perfect Block:
Input: Back + Guard (at the right moment)
Description: If timed perfectly, Alderic can block an incoming attack with minimal damage and immediately follow up with a counterattack. This requires precise timing but rewards the player with an opening for a damaging blow.
Armor Stance (Passive Defense Ability):
Description: Alderic’s heavy armor allows him to shrug off certain light and medium attacks with minimal damage. He has high resistance to knockdowns and stagger effects but is slightly slower as a result.
Victory Pose:
Alderic raises his sword high in the air, his helmet reflecting the light as he stands tall, proud but humble. He doesn’t boast but shows satisfaction from a hard-fought battle.
Personality & Lore:
Sir Alderic may not be the strongest or the flashiest, but he is steady, reliable, and true to his cause. His armor is simple, forged from common steel, showing signs of wear from many battles, but it’s well-maintained. His sword is a tool of discipline, not a weapon of showmanship. He fights to protect, uphold honor, and serve his land—not for glory or recognition. While his armor covers his face, his movements speak volumes about his experience and stoic demeanor.
His fighting style is marked by patience and restraint. He's not the type to rush in recklessly, preferring to wait for an opening, counterattack when possible, and exploit the slightest mistake. A true knight in his approach, Sir Alderic embodies the values of honor, duty, and persistence.

Sir Alderic the Knight: A Tale of Honor and Duty
Early Life:
Born to a humble family in the village of Windham, Sir Alderic was never one to seek glory or riches. The son of a blacksmith, his early years were spent watching his father hammer away at iron, forging tools, horseshoes, and occasionally a blade or two. From an early age, Alderic was drawn to the forge’s heat and the rhythmic sound of the hammer. Yet, despite his father's craft, Alderic always felt the pull of something greater. He admired the knights who passed through the village, their armored forms cutting through the dirt roads with the weight of responsibility on their shoulders.
At the age of fourteen, after years of assisting his father, Alderic left home to seek a higher calling. He joined the Order of the Iron Creed, a knightly order known more for its discipline than its fame. Unlike the grand orders of high birth, the Iron Creed accepted anyone willing to learn the ways of chivalry and swordcraft, regardless of origin. It was a place for those who valued honor, duty, and the protection of the weak over the pursuit of personal glory.
Training and Rise:
Alderic's years as a squire were not glamorous. He spent long hours polishing armor, tending to horses, and practicing basic swordplay in the cold, damp training fields. His training was grueling, and many would have given up, disheartened by the endless repetition and harsh conditions. But Alderic was different. He was patient, disciplined, and tireless. His resolve was unshakable, and over the years, his sword skills became finely honed.
His knightly mentors recognized his potential, not in his raw strength or explosive talent, but in his unwavering consistency and ability to stay calm under pressure. Alderic’s true strength lay in his mind and his heart—his understanding of strategy, his ability to read his opponent, and his steady hand in the face of danger.
At the age of twenty-three, after nearly a decade of service, Alderic was knighted. He was given his first sword, an unremarkable longsword, and a suit of plain steel armor—nothing ornate, but practical and sturdy, designed for battle rather than ceremony. His title, Sir Alderic, was not a mark of nobility, but a reflection of his commitment to the ideals of knighthood: to protect the innocent, serve with honor, and never stray from the path of duty.
The First Battle:
Sir Alderic’s first taste of real combat came when the Kingdom of Elarith was thrown into turmoil. A rebellion, led by a charismatic yet ruthless lord named Rolan Blackthorn, swept across the countryside, leaving villages in ruin and armies shattered. Sir Alderic was assigned to defend the northern frontier, where the rebellion's forces were advancing.
The night before the battle, Sir Alderic and his fellow knights gathered around a campfire, sharpening their swords and exchanging quiet words. The air was thick with tension. Most of the men were young, eager for battle and glory. But Alderic said little. He knew the cost of war, and it was not something to be romanticized.
When dawn broke, Sir Alderic led his men into the fray. The battle was chaotic and brutal. The rebels fought fiercely, driven by a cause they believed in, but it was the disciplined knights of the Iron Creed who held their ground. Alderic fought with calculated precision, his sword striking with deliberate force, his shield always ready to deflect the enemy’s blows. He saved many of his comrades, intercepting strikes meant for others, and his steady presence helped keep the line intact when morale wavered.
The victory was hard-won, but it came at a cost. Many knights fell, including the commander of his battalion. Sir Alderic was left standing among the bodies of his comrades, bloodied but unbroken. As he surveyed the field, he understood that war was not a game of glory, but a cycle of loss and sacrifice. It was a lesson that would stay with him forever.
A Life of Service:
After the rebellion was quelled, Sir Alderic returned to his order, though he felt a growing sense of disillusionment. The knights of the Iron Creed were bound to the service of the realm, but the world outside the castle walls had changed. The once-proud kingdom of Elarith was now plagued by corruption in the court, as ambitious nobles schemed for power, and the common folk suffered under the weight of increasing taxes and unrelenting war.
Despite this, Sir Alderic remained steadfast in his purpose. He took on many missions—rescuing villagers from bandits, patrolling borders, escorting merchants through dangerous lands—but each time he returned, the world seemed a little more distant, and his sense of purpose felt just a bit more hollow.
One fateful day, a neighboring lord offered him a chance to serve as a captain in his personal guard, promising greater rewards and recognition for his deeds. It was an opportunity for glory, a chance to rise in the ranks of nobility. But Sir Alderic, having seen enough of ambition and vanity, turned down the offer. He had no interest in wealth or titles. His sword was not meant to be wielded for personal gain.
Instead, he took up the mantle of a wandering knight. Leaving the confines of the order, he now roams the land, aiding those in need, serving as a protector of the weak and a steady hand in troubled times. His armor, though worn from years of service, remains a symbol of his dedication. He does not fight for recognition or personal victory; he fights because it is his duty.
Current Journey:
Now in his mid-thirties, Sir Alderic’s reputation has spread across the kingdom, though he remains a figure of quiet mystery. People know him as a knight without ambition, a protector who does not seek glory but whose blade is always drawn in defense of those who cannot protect themselves. He is called upon in times of war and peace, a man whose sword is as steadfast as his resolve.
Though his armor is simple, his actions speak volumes. He is no hero of grand tales, no figure of legend, but a knight who stands firm in his duty, no matter how grim the road ahead. For him, knighthood is not a path of fame or fortune but one of service, discipline, and sacrifice.
Many who have met him speak of his calm demeanor and unwavering sense of honor. Though he has faced numerous battles, Sir Alderic has never once taken a life out of anger or malice. His enemies, when they fall, do so not because he sought their death, but because they gave him no other choice. He is a man of war, yes, but also a man of mercy.
Despite his plain appearance, his presence commands respect. The knight who wears no crest, whose armor has seen better days, yet stands tall with the quiet strength of a thousand battles behind him. He has no need for titles, no need for grandeur—his honor, like his sword, speaks for itself.
Legacy:
Sir Alderic’s legacy will not be one of legend, nor of heroic feats sung in ballads. Instead, it will be the legacy of a knight who never sought fame, but whose life was defined by the quiet, unshakable adherence to the knightly code: honor, duty, and service to others.
In time, the world will forget his name, but the humble villages he protected, the innocent lives he saved, and the lands he defended will remember the silent, steadfast knight who stood at the edge of the battlefield, not for glory—but because it was his duty to do so.
This backstory positions Sir Alderic as a knight driven not by personal ambition or the pursuit of fame, but by a deep-rooted sense of duty and honor. His journey is one of quiet sacrifice, and while he may not be remembered by history, his actions and values leave a lasting impact on the people he serves.
(----Writer's Notes----)
Like I said in a lot of recent previous posts, this is gonna be more of a separate thing that isn't directly connected to The Akashic Records and interact with the Records' known factions like The Story Guardians, Bogles, Scrawls, etc.
Not yet at least. You can think of it as showing different worlds & characters BEFORE they ended up interacting with the outside world due to certain circumstances. That way, you can have them without needing to read all of the additional lore about The Records before you decide to use it yourself.
Now about the Story of Sir Alderic.
Ya know, I think people who have followed me long enough could realize that I kinda have a Soft Spot for Mooks / Redshirts. Like you have these groups of heroes/villains who fight for their causes, but end up getting completely wiped out by the more well developed Heroes/Villains in one or two hits.
Still, stuff like The Arkham Games and the Mordor games do end up giving their enemy NPCs & lesser characters some added personality so that they aren't just faceless NPCs that you wipe out and easily forget.
Also, consider this. In like a more common fighting game where the entire playable cast has some unique costumes and movesets while the less important characters they can battle with tend to have less in terms of both moveset and attire. So, say if Soul Calibur gets a new game and not only does it have all the flash and spectacle for the majority of the cast, there's at least ONE character who is not some legendary warrior nor are they someone with access to powerful magic.
Someone who represents the least represented archetype you can find in games like that. The Regular Everyday Knight. One who is far more realistic & practical in terms of attire, attitude and move set AND YET is still able to go toe-to-toe with the most powerful of fighters despite not having some completely fantastical power to them.
So yeah, also due to how Sir Alderic's story is suppose to go. You can bet that The Story Guardians would have him join their ranks.
