Butterfly wing by AlviaAlcedo Butterfly wing by AlviaAlcedo
Just tried to paint on a butterfly wing, why not^^
A shiny lake, forest and a dragon.

Their life is so short, only a few weeks. I picked some wings, so beautiful. But acrylics works bad on this surface^^'

And sanding that wing with superfine (400-600) sandpaper for extra grip would not work? Very fine sandpaper will not ruin the surface, but allows the acrylic paint to set.
Always make a try-out on a piece that you don´t need, Ok?

I take it that that butterfly wing is made out of polystone? :-? (Confused) And has a smooth surface?

(Resin mixed with mineral elements as chalk to give it a stony look, but with a very reduced weight)

I am so impressed. That cannot be an easy surface to work on.

Maybe if you sealed it first?

Is that a real butterfly wing or an agget version? If its real how the hell did you paint on it without breaking it? They are so ever fragile.

Don't feel bad for the butterfly. :D (Big Grin) Their life cycle is extremely short. This was picked off of an already dead one.

I know. I'm still sorry the little guy is dead.

But she has some great talent :) I never would have thought of painting on a wing.

That is very beautiful! I could see how acrylics would not do well since the wings would have natural powders and oils that repel water (to avoid getting soaked when raining). It's beautiful non-the-less! and I bet that is a good challenge for you!
