Description

This is my first capital ship design in Star Wars Universe. So let me know what you think about her.
It a new ship commissioned in New Republic Era when Alliance is more concerned about holding onto & govern territory rather than space & and movement denial. As the organisation became a legit government, establishing a police & defense force became priority rather than engaging in hit & run guerila tactics against a superior force.
However, time & again engagements in galactic conflict proved that oversized not so efficient battleships does not have distinctive tactical advantages other than physchological surpression. Their costs to maintain & run does not compansate against their average battle performance. So New Republic went for smaller more efficient multi-tasking ships for the planetary police forces and advance scouts of their main fleets.
CEC FR-75 is a new breed of ship designed for escort/point missions for fleet operations as well as independent police duty in some remote systems. She is as fast as CR-90 corvettes with ability to take more punishment and nearly as heavily armed as Infamous Corellian gunships. Its ability to operate in atmosphere also gives her a distinct tactical variety. Although their concept and philosophy differed from Kuat Drive Yards CEC engineers acknowledged some basic design advantages of Star Destroyers when a "war ship" is concerned. the Bridge moved to a position where the full path of guns are visible & observation of battlefield is more easier. Its 12 quad laser cannons & three Dual turbolaser batteries as well as a frontal tractor beam gives her a varied multi-engage capacity.

Great design there, though I have to say that I, as I always do with that line of thinking, cringe at the entire "Bridge tower is great because you can see stuff" line of thinking.
The bridge towers of the Star Destroyers are a bad imitation of WW2 battleship main masts, hte idea being flawed to the extreme seeing as the bridge of WW2 ships wasn't at the top of the tower, which instead served as additional surface area for other systems.
Meanwhile in space combat, the idea that you need to be able to see where you fire is frankly ridiculous. For one, SW ships have their guns aimed by individual gunners at the turrets themselves, just like during WW2, meaning that the bridge doesn't need to know how their guns aim because that's not their job. Additionally a "Good Look at the Battlefield" isn't needed in an age of advanced sensor systems and stealth ships that turn invisible anyway, nor is it well advised to have a huge target for disabling the ship like a bridge tower instead of putting the bridge into the deepest, most heavily armored part of the ship
