Description
This is part of the broader universe of my Greater Netherlands alternate history. Here, World War I occured as it did in real life, and while no one could be certain how the alternate geography would have changed the outcome, I've assumed that it ended in a stalemate rather than outright defeat for the Central Powers (or at least Germany). The German Empire therefore retained pretty much all of its territory, including Alsace-Lorraine. Without the humiliation of the Versailles Treaty and generally less domestic chaos in the aftermath of the war, German politics didn't get quite as ugly as in our timeline. However, with plenty of unfinished business World War II happened all the same. And this time, Germany did lose and had to cede territory. But not as much as in real life: in the east, it retained Eastern Brandenburg, Pomerania, and most of Silesia. In the west, France occupied Luxemburg, the Saar basin, and Alsace-Lorraine, but returned the former two a few years later, while Alsace-Lorraine was divided along the language border. This division is depicted on the map.
