Okay, I'm going to risk making some Joker fans angry here...

I loved The Dark Night. Judging by the box-office take of the film, I'd say there's a very slim chance anyone didn't.

So I decide to look around for some fan art here on DA of this awesome film's characters... And what do I find? Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker, Joker- And oh, look! Another Joker.

Don't get me wrong, Health Ledger was amazing. He and Chris Nolan's vision of The Joker was an undeniable epitome of the character and we were all suitably blown away by it. But folks, there was another character in that film just in case you missed it, and the performance given by Aaron Eckhardt was just as intense and engaging as Health's in my opinion.

So why so little fan art love for the Two-Face? Even before being realized on the screen in perfection this summer, he was always my favorite bat villain. It's the horror of the hero gone terribly astray. The place to which anyone could snap. The pet you once loved suddenly and tragically gone feral.

I felt he really deserved some accurate DA art of his movie persona to help offset the glut of Jokers. To quote the anarchic clown himself, "Looks like I gotta do everything myself around here..."

I've been working on a trio of jobs lately and despite the crunch, I honestly do enjoy it. One of the bi-products of doing so though is that when I get into the mode of non-stop work I often retreat back to drawing to kill the stress and it seems to be one of the few times I finally manage to finish artwork to satisfied completion. :D

This one's also for you AnimantX, for kicking me in the behind and reminding me I don't upload enough illustration work. ;) Thank you.

Rough pencil illustration, Photoshop coloring, and because I lost my Waccom tablet I'm proud to say the painting work was finished in less than 8 hours using only the mouse. Brutal- but good practice.

*UPDATE* Title changed to more accurately reflect the actual script dialogue:

GORDON
You're right, Harvey. Rachel's
death was my fault. But punish me-

DENT
I'm about to. Tell your son it's
going to be all right, Gordon.
Lie. Like I lied.

Mouth lines also altered slightly to better resemble the actual film look thanks to reference from the first published online photo: [link]

That very impressive.
And I must say I agree with you. Despite that feral and chaotic persona of the Joker, I found that the role of Two-Face was much more compelling, symbolic, and even heart-breaking, (and sadly yes, highly underrated). And film aside, Two-Face has definitely been one of my favorite characters far before the movie as well, with the exception of Batman Forever to a minor degree, but I digress.

Anyone else find it weird how he didn't flip for himself last? If the coin came up bad, he wouldn't have been there to flip for the fate of Gordon's son.

The one thing that bothered me about this interpretation of the character was this. How can a man who has had half of his face burnt off speak with perfect clarity and without any speech inpediment?
alternatecoppa's avatar
Oh definately. Or how does he manage to stave off infection for even the few hours he goes on his killing spree? Or how does he manage to get back his burned suit from the hospital when they would have not only cut it off him to treat him when he was brought in but they would have also burned it as medical waste right away as well. Pure grim, fancy I guess LOL.

This is incredible, and I agree with you on most counts too (though my favourite Batman villain is usually the Joker haha).

NO NO NO NO. Two face is a black person Remember the Animated series.

WHAT.

The man they based his look in the animated series on was a white man and he was even voiced by a white man. He was white. His design may have made him look a little black, but trust me, if he was black, he'd look much darker in the animated series. Even in the comics, he was always white. The only time Harvey Dent has been black has been in Tim Burton's Batman.

I still believe in Harvey Dent

Pretty good drawing of Two face!
I wasn't a big fan of TDK.It was good but I prefer Batman Begins but that's just me.
Aaron Eckhart was pretty good as Harvey Dent.

This looks great! The reason for myself that I don't draw Two-face is because the burned half of his face is so hard to draw :P Maybe I should try it again sometime...

"...The Joker's just a mad dog. I want whoever let him off the leash."
This is very cool. And I like what you said about the lack of Two-Face art. Especially since he's so badass. You know why it happened? I think it's because, sadly, he met his demise in The Dark Knight. Never should have happened! He's too important to kill, like Joker. But it happened anyway. Very sad.

I feel that the burnt suit Harvey Dent aka Two-Face wears is not fully split like in the comics. Whoever the moron designed Two-Face's outfit didn't get the details right. And don't give me some stupid excuse like "It would be cheesy to have him in a split suit like in the comics." cause that's bullshit. :pissedoff:

I love how the normal half of his face is so calm and collected, contrasted with the wild insane look of his scarred side.

Exactly!!!, you totally read my mind.

Zuko from Avatar, Mello from Death Note, Two Faces from Batman... I don't know what I have with the anti-heroes with scars by burning in the left eye :O all of them AWESOME.

Was a shame the few time that the character was on the screen.

Harvey Dent/Twoface is my favorite villain in the Batman series.

Joker just creeps me out, Penguin isn't much of a threat, but Twoface...I dunno, there's something about him that's just really cool.

You did SUCH a good job! :D It really looks like him, well done!

I completely agree with you!
Aaron Eckhardt is an amazing actor!
Have you seen the movie No Reservations? He plays a talented chef who falls for the main character. His personality is fun, and friendly.
In Dark Knight, when he turns bad, I couldn't help but think, "Wow, he can act a wide range of personalities!"

My poor baby. *hugs Harvey*

As much of a Joker fan as I am, i think I loved Harvey just a bit more, even if it was mostly out of sympathy.

Alright, so I finally watched it at my university's theatre (which brings in "new" movies just before they're available on DVD, lol) and...

THANK YOU. I completely agree. Dent was my favorite character throughout the entire movie and I sympathized for him the MOST.
