What if Brittany had still been independent when America was discovered?
Here is that story!

In 1910 Africa was divided between three colonial powers, France, the UK and Brazil. Only one independent state existed, Vrijland.
The English dominated the largest area but it was very heterogeneous and mainly populated by natives except Madagascar, a large military base facing Brazil. They also had Morocco where the descendants of Brazilian settlers were still numerous. The Portuguese kingdom in the Congo was an empty shell to maintain their claims.
The Republic of Vrijland is independent but is closely linked to the English for its defense. Devoid of industry, it lives in fear of a Brazilian invasion. The white population dominates the country and seizes the best lands.
To the south is Brazilian Southern Africa. Millions of settlers arrive and the colony has the largest white (and mixed-race) population in Africa. A zone reserved for the Bretons is created in Angola, the rest of the country being Gallo. The African populations constantly pushed north are no more than 11.4%. The eastern part, rich in minerals, has a very developed industry, the only one in Africa. Its GDP of 150,000 is equivalent to 3/4 of that of Italy.
The last zone is that of the French. It is mainly made up of North-West Africa. The arrival of 500,000 Brazilian settlers is a notable fact. They turn out to be turbulent, organize themselves into militias, take the lands of the natives, terrorize them and force them to convert. This causes unrest. The French authorities do not dare to intervene too much because they know that the Brazilian power is behind it.
