In 1917 the belligerents were severely tested. The first domino to fall was the Russian tsarist regime which fell in February to everyone's surprise. The country gradually sank into anarchy.

The Brazilians, after having consolidated the French front, were preparing to intervene in Russia when the Great Indian Revolt broke out. Colonists and converts to support the war effort plundered the country and took advantage of it to appropriate property. In June 1917, millions of Indians suffered from famine and a great revolt broke out which affected the already persecuted Muslims but also the largely dispossessed Hindus. This rebellion was much more than that of 1904.

The Anglo-Saxons took advantage of it to relaunch their offensive.

The Brazilians had to send up to 4 million soldiers to support their Indo-Brazilian force and restore order at the cost of a bloodbath that would last 9 months, until March 1918.

15 million Indians would die, or 5% of the population, mainly from famine and disease.

Brazilian India emerged deeply shaken with a tenacious hatred against the Brazilians, their colonists and their converted servants. The country's administration was completely restructured, the principalities liquidated; a good part of the local princes had joined the rebels. The Indian economy was completely modernized for greater productivity, starting with agriculture.

As for the Anglo-Saxon offensive, which the Japanese no longer supported, it quickly got bogged down. The English were also faced with a latent revolt of their Indian subjects, whom they also exploited without restraint.
