Conan XII wishes to unify his empire by creating territorial continuity from India to Southern Africa. In the future, a railway will make it possible to quickly connect these disparate territories without having to control the seas.

Vrijland, Persia and Ethiopia constitute the last obstacles.

Persia was occupied from 1858 and was completely conquered in 1864 with mainly Indian troops. Vrijland's progress northwards is blocked in the plains of Sudan. Ethiopia was occupied from 1860 and its main princes were subjugated in 1866. Here again, Indian troops were used.

Elsewhere in Africa the other European powers are progressing even if the unhealthy climate for Europeans hinders their progress, especially in West Africa.

From 1860 the Brazilians began a vast campaign of forced conversions of Muslims, especially in regions where Christians were already numerous: Egypt, Palestine, Syria, India, Ethiopia.

This campaign, quite brutal (conversion under threat of deportation, dispossession, execution, etc.), will encounter a certain resistance. It required the mobilization of considerable troops: almost 1,500,000 men in 1870!
