1850 : colonization of the Pacific

In 1834 Brazil completely dominated the eastern coast of the Pacific. It also controls the Philippines and East Timor which are in the hands of the Spanish but where the Brazilians install soldiers and settlers.

Until 1843, Brazilian Oceania lived quietly. Conania is reserved for outcasts and condemned people.
The other Pacific islands are subjugated, one after the other. A well-armed fleet arrives, forces the local sovereigns to sign an annexation treaty which initially does not change the life of the island. Garrisons are sometimes installed. Then priests arrive and convert the population. Finally settlers settle in but in small numbers. The natives are protected from their abuse by the authorities.

Thus enters Brazilian domination, New Guinea (partial), Fiji, New Pernambuco, Samoa, Tahiti, the Solomon Islands (partial).

In 1843 gold was discovered in Conania and this caused the influx of 250,000 settlers who completely transformed the colony, at least its southeastern part. 30,000 are heading towards the rest of Oceania, many of them towards St Jean and Marianne.
